Where does Will Muschamp get a third head coaching opportunity in a few years?

No rush. Muschamp’s South Carolina buyout after getting fired in November of 2020 was $12.9 million. He will get $2,565,000 in a three-year deal as Georgia co-defensive coordinator.

But this is another head-coach gig waiting to happen within a year or so.

“Oh, almost definitely. We tend to recycle in this business anyway,” an ACC athletic director told The Post and Courier with a mild laugh. “But there’s too much there (for Muschamp) for some search committee not to like.”

Post and Courier

I think it's telling that quote was from an ACC AD. I don't think Muschamp's pride would allow him to go below a P5, or at least not in his 50's (maybe in his 60's, sure)

Which ACC school might Muschamp consider to be head coach? Wake if it opened? Virginia?

Or might he consider a Big 12 job? Houston if it opened?

Could Boom ever be welcome at Vanderbilt or Miss State? Ole Miss?

That quote from the AD is accurate
I could see Muschamp doing ok in the ACC because the expectations and level of competition are low. He would get chewed up and spit out if he some dumbass SEC team hired him again.

Have y'all ever considered just how fortunate Steve Sarkisian is? He has been HC at two of the top ten all-time programs (both of which offer nearly limitless resources) and also at another top 20 program (which is clearly the second best program in its conference).

Robert Muschamp was a walk-on at Auburn. I don’t believe he was ever a GA at Auburn.

Fortunate?!! Guy has a stellar 59–47 overall record, he's earned everything he's ever gotten.

Vanderbilt? Probably not. His personality wouldn't fit at a liberal institution like Vandy. He would fit better at a school like MTSU, Southern Miss, FAU. Some school that would be happy with 8-4 or 9-3 can ask him to build their program and install a winning attitude.

Why in the world would Kirby ever want to go back to Alabama?

He grew up in Georgia, he played for Georgia, his wife played B-ball for Georgia. His kids love Athens.

He has been given all of the institutional support that Mark Richt never got.

Besides, the UGA alumni base has deeper pockets than Alabama does at this point.

Agent Muschamp will be a HC wherever the UGA Illuminati determine his services are needed to ruin another school's football program.

That is all you need to know.

The only thing better than Muschamp coaching at UGA would be him coaching at Clemson...
