Men's Capital One Cup Standings : Places emphasis on popular sports:
Non-revenue generating sports.....question: Do you think FCS football, soccer, lacrosse, baseball, outdoor track, or basketball should be weighted as heavily as football? Do you think any Group A sports (things like water polo, skiing, rifle, fencing, ice hockey, etc) should be counted at all?
It is stupid and that is why. Now for some real stupidity have a look at the men's full top 10.
Men's Cup Standings
SCHOOL POINTS
1. Indiana 62
2. Alabama 60
2. North Dakota State 60
4. Oregon 41
5. Notre Dame 39
6. Georgetown 36
6. Sam Houston State 36
8. Georgia Southern 30
8. Maryland 30
10. Texas A&M 26
Top 10 is riddle with Sam Houston St, North Dakota St, and Georgia Southern. Do you think those athletic programs are better than aTm?

No. That's why I would favor the Director's Cup. In my opinion it's a much better indicator of athletic department strength. The NC in any sport is worth 100 points.
I, personally, do not favor football or basketball over the other sports in this type of ranking. Yes, I would rather A&M win the NC in football rather than men's golf, but I have an even stronger preference for winning the NC in BOTH. If A&M is competing and they keep score, I want A&M to win.
Your mileage may vary. That's why the SECr exists.

This win does a lot for our program and AK. Get the arena built and hold on to AK and we could be dangerous.

I honestly don't know--I don't follow any of those teams. But I don't think the Capital One Cup is supposed to be about which program (and sport) generates the most revenue, who has the largest media following, which is the most recognizable program, etc.; rather, it's about acknowledging the most well-rounded, complete athletic departments. Indiana may very well be that. If North Dakota State--from top to bottom--has competed more effectively in their conference than we have, I tip my hat to 'em.

Even if they got 100% of their points from sports the SEC does not compete in?
I can't even fathom the fact that you think the Capital One Cup is fair across the board. There is a reason it doesn't get that much attention.
ETA aTm should consider getting into tiddlywinks with those small schools.....we will continue on our mission of winning football and baseball national titles.

It's their Cup/ranking system--I admittedly know nothing about their points system, and I couldn't care less about it.
Tiddlywinks? Why so sarcastic? It's just one of many meaningless rankings. I agree with you: I'd much rather win a football title.

Well the CapOne Cup only measures national performance (final ranking in coaches' polls). SHSU and NDSU's points are from FCS. It is unlikely they will finish Top 10 in many other sports.
This is another point in favor of the Director's Cup. They take the best 10 men's and best 10 women's sports scores from each school as long as they are NCAA-sponsored (No equestrian or rugby, for example).
They also use actual results for point determinations (except in FBS football where they use the Coaches' Poll and participation in Bowl games).

After we lost to the worst State team in history with our most talented team ever and thought we were going to miss the tournament yet again? Yeah. We wanted him gone after that game.

Well according to the resident MSU fans I'm still mad....so we might as well go with that and get as much mileage as we can.

Well I misunderstood your previous post.....it appeared to me as though you did care......carry on.

You are right. The OP should change this subject to "Where does ole miss revenue generating athletics rank in the SEC? That way it will fit your argument. The nerve of that guy.
