When you talk about your team, do you say...

"Us" and "We" if you didn't graduate from there? As in " We won that game." as opposed to "LSU won that game." Had a little debate about this earlier with a buddy of mine who didn't go to any college, but still says "we" and "us". What say the SECr?
BTW I did not go to LSU and don't refer to them as "we" or "us".

I didnt go to UF, I have occasionally used those terms.

I refer to the Saints as "we" but I don't live in New Orleans. I also go to LSU and it doesn't bother me when someone who doesn't refers to LSU as "us" or "we". The only time a sidewalker pisses me off is when they try to talk down on your education while they either attended an institution with lower academical standards or didn't attend college at all.

Well I am from Missouri and I go to school in the University of Missouri system and I always have said it. I mean especially if you pay Tax money that funds the school in-state you deserve to say "us" or "we". You are paying for it, and the government doesnt seem to care where you went to school there or not.

Sounds like you were being a dick.
If it's their team, it's their team... It part of being a fan, which is short for fanatic.
My Lakers are now at .500

I don't understand why this is a big deal.

I don't understand this either. Sidewalk has nothing to do with it, but if it matters, I go there also.

Passive elitism perhaps?

I've occasionally rooted for schools other than A&M, but never thought about saying "we" or "us" if I didn't go there.
For pro teams, it's always "the _____" rather than we or us.

It is a subconscious thing. Ever since I became an Alabama I said we. I went to school there but didn't really get into the football program a little later and that's when I started saying we.

I believe that if you make some kind of contribution whether it be with your time or money, you deserve to say "us" or "we".
fwiw I go to LSU.

When I use those terms I usually think right after about it,whether I should have said it.I am a Bama Grad,83',but I don't think think that makes me more of a fan than someone else.Anyone that feels like they live and die depending on how their Team did,in my humble opinion, has the same right to call a Team "we" or "us".
