STEM peoples forgive the shite I'm about to write.

So Nick Saban is 67 years old right now.

Average lifespan of an American male is 78 years

At the moment, the oldest college coach is Bill Snyder at KSU, who is 78 years old. Nick Saban is actually the 5th oldest coach active in FBS (as of April 10th 2018).

Bill Snyder: 78
Frank Solich: 73
Joe Moglia: 69
Rocky Long: 68
Nick Saban: 67

He's currently older than every NFL head coach other than Pete Carroll, who is 6 weeks older than he is.

The other notable coaches who went well past everyone else were Bear Bryant (69) and Steve Spurrier (70).

Per Gallup, the average retirement age of American males is 62.

Saban's contract actually goes until 2025, and he extended it by 1 year over this past summer. That would put him as retiring at 73.

What does all this mean?

Well, Nick Saban is already well past the point when most of his peers have retired, but that hasn't mattered for other very successful coaches. The fact that he extended his contract for 1 year (and only 1) makes it appear as though he will in fact, plan to stay and coach until the 2024 season barring health issues.

Joe Pa was 85 and still coaching when was invited to retire.

Bobby Bowden was 80.

Not that these guys had stellar seasons the last few years of their career.

Spurrier had done well up until a couple years before he quit. I think Saban has 5 years +/- left in him. I don't think he will do like the others and milk it too long. When it is time, he will cut bait and go to the lake.

I'd probably put the O/U bet at 4, not including this season. He hasn't shown any signs of slowing down, so really no telling.

Average lifespan of a 67 year old male in relatively good health is about 84 years.

Been saying this for the past five years.

He's the GOAT of CFB coaches, and shows no signs of slowing down - but Ms Terry wears the pants in the family. When she's ready for him to quit, he'll quit.

Problem is, I figure he'd be a real PITA in retirement, so she may not be ready to have him hanging around the house 24-7-365.

If Saban gets bored during retirement, he could always run for office like Tom Osborne did.

Ed Zackery...4 more after this season with a max of 6. Assuming good health for not only himself but for his wife. They truly are a team.

When Saban can't work in the 100deg August heat he will put up his whistle. He's in good shape. Doesn't drink or smoke and still plays basketball during lunch. I'd say at least 5 years.

At this point he doesn't really have to do much but be the figure head. The machine is rolling and he'll get the players he wants as long as his name is listed as the head coach. Hell, he could do this for another 20 years if a blood vessel doesn't pop...
