Yes. Yes it is. Even if you didn’t remember Auburn being upset, the SEC Tournament wiki lists the seeding for almost every single tournament back to 1933.
ETA: Looks like they removed some of the 40s and 50s pages but you still don’t have to go back that far.

I have spent the last 350 days searching for an answer, but I can’t find one. It must’ve never ever ever happened. No way a #1 could lose to a #16. Right! Right?
I just can’t imagine a team like, I don’t know, Virginia, losing in the first round. Unthinkable.
