Honest question because I truly don’t remember.
When was the last time everyone was calling for a school to hire someone, it was super obvious it would be them, and it actually happened?

I said that earlier today to a coworker. Anytime leaks come out like kiffin will sign with auburn after the egg bowl it typically torpedoes any deal.

I don't think Kiffin is going anywhere right now but I do think his agent is making him a lot of money with all this stuff

Kirby Smart is one... he was basically the only candidate and they barely ran a search.
Saban was another. Everyone thought it was going to happen and Saban said publicly it wasn't, then it did.

What this contract rumor did was also serve to potential coaching candidates that we can pony up the money.
Even if Kiffin leaves…..the money is there. And if kiffins buyout was as large as it had been rumored…that’s another massive payday for the university.

It's likely the new contract has much stronger buyout terms... if he doesn't sign it in the next week that's very bad news for the landsharks...
