I guess it’s a good thing to speed up the game. Coaches calling games made the game drag. But I wished more college coaches would let their Catchers call the game.

The problem is that deliberately playing slow is a century old tactic in baseball. Same as golf. All these panels and rules to speed up play, when half the participants don't wont to play faster and in fact slow down on purpose.

Not a fan of it, but as with other sports, the game is evolving.. this is just part of it i guess. interested in seeing how long teams use the ear piece

It's certainly different. Bianco has always called the pitches, and it seems to have sped things up a bit in getting the calls in. So, I'm liking it so far. I'm just waiting for the first time some team decides to start intercepting the signals.

I saw an article that was saying that one of the biggest delays in gameplay is a batter stepping out of the batters box.

If it takes the batter longer than the throw back to the pitcher, the catch signalling the call + pitcher getting set, it is the batter's fault

No doubt. Slow playing in order to throw off an opponents rhythm is an old tactic

Stealing signals is what you do in baseball. But yeah I never thought you’d need a phone guy to travel with you now.

We were coached to step out if a pitcher was taking too long to deliver the pitch. It throws you off as a hitter if you’re standing up there in your stance for a while waiting. Better to step out and reset.

College pitchers and catchers don't call their own game?

They call their own game as much as the quarterbacks do.

Nothing will disguise the fact that it’s baseball, slow and boring IS the game. I enjoyed playing it, but it’s always bored me to tears watching it. Shaving some minutes off the game won’t change that.

Here’s to it falling further down the list of most watched sports in America, and soccer taking over in the next several decades.

Aggies be like, "why does he need a earpiece when he's the catcher and I'm whispering into it"
