There's also a nearly 50-year-old tree on campus that was supposedly planted by him during his time working at UF. It's known as the Tom Petty Tree. UF has probably cut it down by now to put up some ugly modern-looking building.

He's also from Gainesville and has a park named after him on.. LINK.

Why yall hate Tom so much all he did was give us countless great tunes.

By what measue? You obviously have no fricking clue what your talking about.

Just his stuff with the heart breakers make him one of the greats. Then he has the solo stuff like the wildflowers album. Not to mention he was a main piece in a band with Bob Dylan, George Harrison, and Roy Orbison.

His discography stacks up with damn near anyone. Hell even that last album Echo was really good.
