Funny. I thought the east teams had a winning record against the west last season.

Funny thing about '96 and '97.
If Auburn had beaten Alabama in 1996, LSU would've been the West champ - Auburn lost by one point when Alabama scored with seconds left on the clock.
If Alabama had beaten Auburn in 1997, LSU would've been the West champ - Alabama lost by one point after a late fumble let Auburn score a FG with just seconds left on the clock.
Both games had LSU fans thinking LSU would be the division champs right up until the very end of the game. It was excruciating.

Florida is the better team in the east.
Wonder why they are struggling to beat us. Seems odd that a much better team has gotten beaten the last two years. Coaching, maybe?

Okay. now you are just trolling.

State would have won the east a couple of those years so winning the SEC east isn't really something to brag about. Your side of the conference has been shite in pretty much every sport minus basketball
State is right at .500 in their series with Kentucky. Let’s not act like State wouldn’t be in a similar position as Kentucky in terms of winning the division in most years.

You must not remember how good state was in the 90's when Bama and LSU were down.

Those are child's play when it comes to embarrassing.
This is how you do pathetic.

Tell us about it. We thought we would be National Champions and SEC Champions the last two years.
I have no problem with LSU or any other team making rings or anything else for the kids to show off. If GT can say they won a National Championship in 1990 when they shared it with Colorado, then why can't LSU share a title with somebody? I bet GT got rings.

Players get rings for simply playing in bowls now, not even winning them. I don’t really have an issue with teams giving players mementos for seasons.

There is absolutely no idea to know that.
What we can do is consult the S&P+ rankings to see where MSU was rated compared to the SEC East teams each year:
2005: 7th out of 7
2006: 7th out of 7
2007: 7th out of 7
2008: 7th out of 7
2009: 5th out of 7
2010: 4th out of 7
2011: 5th out of 7
2012: 6th out of 8
2013: 4th out of 8
2014: 2nd out of 8
2015: 3rd out of 8
2016: 4th out of 8
2017: 2nd out of 8
2018: 2nd out of 8
Color me not impressed.

So if being the best in the East is nothing to brag about, how would you describe Mississippi State football which has never in its history produced a team good enough to win the division?

I bet GT got an actual trophy:
Yep. That's kind of a big difference to me, I'm not all about getting second place/co-champ/runners up rings.

Yeah, y'all came close, I bet it was heartbreaking.
But it sure is weird following a game between two teams deciding the post season fate of a third. And while it didn't work out for LSU in '96 or '97, GOD BLESS PITT!

Jesus some of ya'll are triggered. I'm talking a couple of years out of the Dan Mullen era when the Eastern division was down. If you swap Georgia and MSU then we would have won the east a couple of those years. You guys don't play Bama and LSU every year.
2010 we beat both Georgia and Florida. that was one of the years.

They were essentially an extension of the Mississippi schools at that point in time
this response didn't work out the way you planned did it?

You might have, but South Carolina had an excellent team that year, so assuming you would have beaten them out is a stretch too.....I mean, nobody knows. maybe you would have, maybe you wouldn't. but Auburn won the National Championship that year, and only beat South Carolina by 8 for the SEC title.
People think you can just plug and play a team in another division or conference and make a blanket statement, but you can't. You change even one team and the whole dynamics of a season is thrown off and the season plays out completely differently.
ETA
I will say that after looking at how the season played out, it might not be too far fetched to say MState might have won the East, though.

Wrong.
The Barn beat Scar by 8 in the regular season then beat the absolute frick out of them in the SECCG.

If I were a UGA fan, who’s won the SEC a grand total of 4 times since 1981, I doubt I’d be bringing up old stats from another school. Of course, when 1980 is your best year ever, though, I guess I get it.
36-16.
