Instead of playing Aday games or spring games vs yourself you'd play an exhibition game vs another team.

Has that been done before back in the day? Has there always been spring games?

I can't ever remember spring exhibition games between two teams. They might have done it back when teams had no scholarship/ practice limits and JV squads?

I'm not sure coaches would want to do it these days with the scholarship limits and limits on practice time. Spring has really become an evaluation period for the early enrollees as much as anything.

Dabo has thrown out the idea a few times trying to setup a possible UGA/Clemson exhibition. As of right now, I don't think there are any mechanisms/rules that would allow for it. Even as a replacement for the current spring game. Nor would many coaches be for it I don't think.

Don't think they would mind playing an another opponent but game and weekend is big for recruiting with multiple prospects attending.

Nobody is gonna want to give that up.

Are there any rules against it that you're aware of?

I don't know what specifically they are, just that when it was brought up a couple of years ago, it was not a straightforward "yeah, we could do that". It would have required schools to petition to adjust rules in place IIRC.

I think it’d be cool to see.

Set it up as a home and home with XFL kick off rules and I'd be okay with it.

Hell, I'd even be okay with playing GA State or GA Southern at MBS as the spring game. A lot of those players grew up UGA fans but playing for UGA just wasn't in the cards for them.

Bama should play UAB in exhibition. That way they don’t have to worry about losing. Can even call it “great for the state”

I am as big a fan of College Football as almost anyone. If we were to do that, then we should just pay athletes to play for our teams and just drop the pretense that there is any "Student" in "Student Athlete" and just let them become Minor League professional teams.

If they condoned it, it would be a way to bring in a smaller school, pay them for the scrimmage and replace them on the actual schedule with better competition. The small school gets the nice payday and the regular season is better for it.

nope..Too many risks in the QB and others getting hurt. We as fans would want to win at all cost and would bitch and moan and groan should we lose by not playing our 1's all game long. Kid need down time

I think anyone would love to see it, kind of make it in the sense of an NFL pre-season game where starters play 1st half and maybe a drive or two into 3rd quarter then you see 2nd and 3rd stringers.

Think the coaches would have to agree to be on same page though on how they are approaching the game obviously.

This harmless and fun thought experiment is what would tip the scales on that completely unrelated issue for you?

I don't care about football until the first game of the season. Everything else means nothing to me.
