The first scenario is the Big 12 holds tight and poaches the AAC for 2-4 teams. But there is still some tempting low-lying fruit in the Big 12 that make it the target of being poached itself. The B1G may look at Kansas. And surely Baylor, TCU, Ok State and Texas Tech look tempting.I think this outcome is the more likely. Thereby, the AAC will pick up the leftovers, perhaps as many as 5 teams. If so, the AAC will strengthen its hand.

Not trying to sound like a jerk but strengthen its hand to what? If all of this goes down there wont be a 5th conference, just 4 super conferences. As much as i hate it but if all of this happens i think Aresco finally admits defeat and there will be a g5 league.

Suppose you have a new AAC with UCF, UC, West Virginia, USF, Memphis, Texas Tech, TCU, Baylor Houston, South Florida, SMU etc....You don’t think that is a strengthen hand representing several populous States?

This has G5 written all over. When WVU is your big dog. You're not a top tier conference.

Nothing because Texas and Oklahoma aren't moving.

Vandy, the Mississippi schools, and Arkansas should ask the same question. Any school that isn't valuable enough to be accepted by the B1G or the ACC is potential collateral damage to the Burnt Orange Menace.

If there are any left overs for the AAC to take i just dont think it would move the needle enough to make an impact. Honestly, if we did get any teams it would probably be Baylor and/or TCU. All of the big 12's power and money laid in TX and OK and with those 2 gone the left overs just wont have the same kind of pull.

UCF is going to either the ACC or B1G.

I’m sure that the remaining power 5 conferences are going to want to have a 16 team conference as well. They don’t want to be behind the SEC. Baylor, Texas Tech, TCU, and Oklahoma St probably go Big 12, Kansas and Iowa State to the Big 10, West Virginia and Notre Dame to the ACC, and that leaves Kansas State as the only one unaccounted for. I’m sure Kansas and Kansas State would be a package deal or something. Maybe Rutgers moves to the AAC and Big 10 adds Kansas, Kansas State, and Iowa State

16 isn't some magic number. If you don't get more money per team added why do it?

I could see no expansion elsewhere, unless the ACC wants to try to use PSU to get ND to finally settle down.

Why would the B10 want Iowa State when they have Iowa already? Money wise it does not add up. Kansas maybe for basketball. OSU, Baylor, KSU, WV and TCU are good programs to build a conference around. Add in Boise State, Houston, SMU and coax Brigham Young and you have a 12 team western conference.

A league with the following teams is probably still close to automatic to getting 1 team into the expanded playoffs every year if that team is 11-1 or 12-0 (and say they add BYU and Boise).

West
TCU
Baylor
Texas Tech
Kansas State
Kansas
BYU
Boise State

East
Oklahoma State
Houston
Memphis
Cincinnati
West Virginia
UCF
USF

That's a solid football league (not great, but solid) and a really damn good basketball league.

They're just underestimating the appeal of national brands like the Memphis Tigers and Houston Cougars. The populous states of Texas and Florida are abuzz with rumors of AAC expansion and the prospect of an annual showdown between Baylor and USF.

The Big XII needs to sack up and kick TX and OU out of the conference. Don't want to be here? Fine, you're gone. Replace them with someone that actually wants it.
