We finally have pitchers this year!

Wes Johnson ruined our pitching staff. But now we finally have a roster to work with. Cannot wait to see what Cann and Gary Henderson do after an incredible job last season!

Best guess:
Friday - Ryan Rolison
Saturday - James McArthur
Sunday - Brady Feigl

Others that could start if any of our starters struggle:
Greer Holston
Will Ethridge
Will Stokes

I don’t know who will be the starters but I sure am happy to have pitchers this year after losing them all last year

Pleas get out of the conference if you don’t like baseball. Thank you.

Caleb Gilbert is the only guy who will 100% be in the rotation. Zach Hess may end up there but I feel like Mainieri wants to keep him as closer if at all possible. Todd Peterson will probably start the year in the rotation. I think Nick Bush will also get a chance as either a Sunday starter or as our midweek/long relief guy. But we'll have several players get looks before SEC play starts

Really sucks Walker had to have TJ after the CWS last year. Had he been back, we'd have a solid weekend rotation with Walker and Gilbert as proven winners. Fortunately Gilbert got some very valuable starting experience in Omaha, but as it stands we will be replacing all 3 of our weekend guys from last year.

Hess is going to be the interesting one. He's the most talented pitcher on staff but does he move to a starting role or does he remain closer?

Good question.

I'm not sure if anyone knows at the moment. Kingston has yet to decide - he's still evaluating.

Nick Storz (Freshman) will get a chance.

I thought Stortz was going to be out for a while with an arm injury? If he hasn’t thrown all fall or spring, I don’t see him cracking the rotation. I think he’s a bullpen arm when he comes back.

You're right, I forgot he had surgery early fall. Looks like he could be ready to pitch in March, so yeah he probably wouldn't be able to start until late in the season

Good question.

Here is what D1 predicts.

LHP Kaylor Chafin, Sr (bullpen last year), 7-2, 2.33 ERA, 3 SV, 4.5-1 K to BB ratio
RHP Stephen Kolek, Jr, 4-5, 3.79 ERA
RHP Mitchell Kilkenny, Jr (bullpen last year), 3-3, 3.67, 7 SV

Maybe not high draft type talent, but we have depth and upperclassmen. We also have some young guys that may step in eventually too. Feels like we should have pitching depth for days. Should be able to handle tournament play well.

I'm jacked about the Skylar Meade hire.

If we were to guess.... Adam Hill has been in the weekend rotation for the past 2 years so I would think it be safe to say he would likely be there again. other than that, he's got 20 guys to chose from.

Caleb Gilbert is the only starting pitching LSU has set now. CPM really wants Hess to stay as closer. Gonna be some freshmen starting for LSU in Feb and March. Rotation probably wont be set until late March.

Not having Eric Walker starting will hurt this team in 2017.
