As a Kentucky fan this thread bores me.

How many times has Kentucky been a 1 seed?
And how many of those times did they make it to the Final Four?

(Didn't they start seeding sometime in the 70's or early 80's?)

there's only one thing I remember from that game. the announcers mention some black player for Ole Miss and how his mom was afraid for him to go to Ole Miss based on their racist past.

Ansu Sesay? Just guessing because that is the only Ole Miss basketball player that I can remember pre 2012-2013.

I'm sure LSU has had to been a higher before this, but I know they were #4 in 2006 and #8 in 2008.

8 in 2009.. Also that's the furthest back you could remember?

Nice list.

I don't remember our seed in '95? Had to have been high as well tho.

Edit: we were a 2 in 95. We went to 3 final 4s in 6 years- forgot about that.

he's the only player I could name of Ole Miss's from the 90s... I watched him hit something like 30 free throws in Auburn one year (felt like it anyway)... somehow we still won the game.

The Elite 8 and the Sweet 16 was the same year, and that team was an 8 seed so it's not like they had some great season. They caught lightning in a bottle and won their first two NCAA games at the buzzer before beating Syracuse in the Sweet 16. It was fun, it was awesome, but it wasn't like that was some great team all year. It was another a patented Mark Gottfried under achiever. Every one of those teams he got to the NCAAt with was loaded with talent and never reached expectations. One of those first round exit teams was highly thought of enough to be ranked #1 early in the season. He led them to a 10 seed and a loss to 7th seeded Indiana in the opening round. The guy was a dirty bum who can't coach. With all that talent he had, he finished with a winning SEC record three times. We're already seeing how quickly he can run a program into the ground with what he's done with preseason ACC favorite NC State this year. Not like we needed more proof after he missed the NCAAt in his final three seasons at Alabama (and the NIT in his final two).

I don't know what these numbers are.

ETA: Maybe you've read some other basketball threads in which Gottfried's name came up and realize that there are few people I hate more than him and are therefore just trolling me Either way, I'm not going to start my day off bitching about him anymore. So my above rant is all I'll comment about him right now.
