He has been lighting up opponents and has become the main scoring threat. UCLA runs all kinds of plays to get him shots and no one has been able to slow him down in March. I wonder if Oats has something new planned to deploy against him?

The best team defense in the NCAA tourney.

Herb motherfricking Jones

Ellis, Primo, and Petty are also really good on the perimeter. Haven’t watched UCLA much but their offense appears to be consistently good. We’ll be in for a fight unless we light them up from 3 like Maryland

Something to look for. Bama’s tempo is among the highest in CBB. UCLA is in the 300s. We’ll see who dictates the game

What did Alabama do vs. Florida when they couldn’t stop marching up and down the field this past football season?

KEPT SCORING.

If we're going to use that example, I guess UCLA will have to hope the ref's don't know what a turnover looks like, as well.

Honestly, drive towards him on the offensive end and he'll foul out by halftime.

Apparently Juzang is a sociology major so Oats will get the Bama players to get in his head & ruin his concentration. They'll taunt him with questions such as:

To what extent is the individual shaped by society?
Is there such a thing as a social structure that constrains individual action, or is society nothing more than a figment...
To what extent does our social class background affect our life chances?
To what extent does our gender affect our life chances?

We don't change what we do defensively. We're long and athletic and interchangeable, so we pretty much play the same way every night regardless of opponent.

We definitely won't change anything against a plodding tempo, mid range jumper loving, iso team like UCLA.

Probably put Keon or Herb on him.

Honestly the defense as a whole hasn't been as as good in the tournament as it was in the regular season. Granted teams play better offensively in the tournament, but I don't think Oats has heen satisfied with what he's seen.

Herb gave the defensive performance a 'C' vs Iona, and Oats said that's a favorable grade. Maryland was able to get a multitude of open looks from the perimeter. Maybe that was by design since they aren't a good shooting team, but the energy was lacking at start of the game. Once shots started falling on offense, guys stepped up on the other end.

Yep. If we can force them to play at our pace the way we did to Maryland they are welcome to take and make as many 17 foot jumpers as they want.

We'll just continue to do what we do on the defensive end.

If Juzang can hang an efficient 30-40 points on us with contested mid range jumpers like 90's Michael Jordan then so be it. If UCLA can get that and also figure out how to keep us under 80 at the same time then our season will probably end.

Pretty good chance they won't be able to do both, but March Madness has seen bigger upsets. If both teams play to their abilities, I like Alabama's chances of advancing to the Elite Eight.
