Baylor men's basketball is #1
Baylor's women are #2

They are coming off a top 10 football season and their baseball team is ranked. Other sports are solid as well.

I know we pick at the Big 12, but how can they be this good in everything, when just a few years ago they were Vanderbilt? I know they have crazy money, but so does Vandy. In fact, Vanderbilt's endowment is 5 times what Baylors is.

Baylor has been really good at hiring coaches. They pick these guys seemingly out of no where and they are amazing coaches. Rhule was 28-23 at Temple when Baylor hired him. Briles was 34-28 at Houston. Those are average numbers.

Another theory is that Baylor's administration turns their eye at how their student athletes conduct themselves. In the past few years, you've had a sexual assault scandal on the football team and a basketball player murdering his teammate.

Could a school like Vanderbilt, State, Arkansas replicate this kind of multi sport success in the SEC if they could find out what is going on at Baylor?

God...obviously. Dabo should go coach at Baylor. Would be the perfect fit of God showing his grace and favor

Here's your answer. See FSU during their National title year. The inmates were running the asylum.

Dont forget the Baylor baseball players that got arrested for torturing and beheading cats. And their women's basketball program making it's name by starting a man.

The only one that's real surprising is the football record. Their basketball team has been good for awhile now

Bottom line they are doing a great job. If you good you good no matter what conference you play in. Plus the state of Texas has a lot of talent to pull from. Some states have limited talent and to be very successful you have to pull talent from other states.

Pretty easy to do when you are at a private school.

Your "activities" are not open to public disclosure like public institutions.

If you are a school that has wealthy alumni with motives and there is no public scrutiny just about anything can happen.

Mix in coaches with the mindset of the "Briles gang", Scott Drew, and Kim Mulkey just about anything can happen.

Was the hiring of Ken Starr a coincidence? I think not.

They are so small most of the world does not know what goes on there.

i.e. Dead basketball player (killed over snitching on a drug deal) and the coach who helped cover it up.

Don't forget the "slip and fall" lawyer who was one of the largest recipients of the tobacco settlement years ago, is a former member of their Board of Regents.

I am sure they win because of stellar coaching and players.

Um, don't you even Florida and LSU, baw?

Both programs are regularly in the top 25 in football, have multiple football and baseball National Championships, Florida has multiple basketball national championships and LSU is in the top 3 in the SEC historically.

And that's with leaving out all the success and national championships in other sports like Men's Track and Field, women's track and field, golf, women's basketball, gymnastics, softball, Etc.

It's no more complicated than this. It's their only course of action honestly. Clemson would never win the SEC, they had to build up their program with only one power in their conference, FSU. It's not a terrible strategy.

OU, Baylor, tu, whoever. They play in a soft arse conference.

People still don't understand what goes on in the BDF (Big 12-2).

Poor Iowa State, Kansas State and Kansas know what is going on but they have no options.

Nebraska, Colorado, Missouri and Texas A&M know and could vote with their feet.

They do a GREAT job at hiring coaches and then let those coaches do their thing. Kim Mulkey was recommended by Leon Barmore to replace himself. The administration at LA Tech wouldn't hire her as coach even though she was a great player there and a long-time assistant. Baylor took advantage of this and hired her. As far as the men's basketball and football programs, they have made great hires. And, people like living in Waco.

1. Baylor is having a very good year but its worth pointing out that this is a case where the notice is coming from beating expectations, and the national audience doesn't have very high expectations for Baylor. A Top15 finish in football wouldn't be considered a success for at least 4 schools in the SEC.

2. You Aggies seriously need to let go of your hate.

Hired James Franklin - Briles similarities.
Hired a Drew brother - went 0-19.
Won't dignify baseball comparisons with a response.

And all four would do it again. Unless you have been there you wouldn't understand.
