What is Bryan Harsin's plan?

He made the boosters who tried to boot him blink when he stood up to them but the carnage from that battle has left Auburn in football hell for the near future.
There is no way he can win at this point at Auburn and I am not sure he is even trying anymore. The overall recruiting is weak and they are missing in one of the best instate years in Alabama in a while.
Is he simply waiting for the buyout before returning to a Boise St level job>

Did you say the same thing in 2003? The team will either galvanize around the chaos or they won't. There's still a modicum of talent on the roster.

But he won't and I think even he realizes that. They will have to struggle to start 3-3 because I think Mizzou will give them a game. I do not see another win for the after including Western Kentucky.

The difference between 2003 and 2022 is this: Bryan Harsin doesn't have a scandal-riddled program coached by Mike Shula on the other side of the state like Tommy Tuberville did. Tubby got his fair share of top recruits. Harsin has yet to prove that he can do the same.

He's not doing terrible rn. His recruiting philosophy is quality over quantity. We aren't taking a big class and the 23 class is all 4*. He has a nice start to the 24 class. Our QB room is the deepest in a very long time. We don't have the roster of UGA/Bama rn, but none of you do.

Cool. Was the rest of the SEC scandal-ridden? You realize Auburn won the NC with Saban in Tuscaloosa and played for another 3 years later, right?

2003? One of the worst teams in Alabama history with reduced scholarships and a last second replacement coach came within a TD of Auburn at Jordan Hare. Yes, great comp.

Cool. Was the rest of the SEC (and the NCAA) on reduced scholarship[s too when we won every game in 2004.
God Damn, Alabama fans are the worst
How shitty was Alabama in 2010?

Awww that's sad.

Drive the ship into the rocks, hop on the lifeboat “buyout” and sail away? Proven business model.

I think Alabama and Georgia being as strong as they both are right now has played into this narrative around Harsin and Auburn.
I don't think it's nearly as bad as the narrative around Auburn sounds, ATM. But when you look up and you're in the midst of a gnarly buyout of Gus and a lackluster 1st year from Harsin, seeing your 2 main rivals in the NC game makes anything you've done seem like a failure.
I know that's how it felt for UGA when Florida, Alabama, and Auburn went back to back to back on NCs in the late 00's.
I'm more afraid of Auburn going into seasons where they aren't expected to do shite. Auburn always has enough talent on hand to pull off some crazy shite. There's more than 1 way to build a football program, and Harsin isn't following the Saban/Kirby blueprint. But that doesn't mean it won't work.

It’s a miracle he has any recruits committed honestly

Yawn
Trying to rile up a fanbase that is very much "wait and see" is a tall task, hence the 3 win prediction. Best of luck.

Sans UGA/Bama on our schedule, Harsin has built a better roster going into this season than everyone else we play. It is a critical season for his coaching ability, but the talent is there for 8-10 wins.

He'll be in the PAC 4 in no time. I'm genuinely curious how Auburn's recruiting class will shake out.

He's probably trying to win football games.
I don't think coaches are as stupid and juvenile as the fans.

We can't compete with UGA/Bama doing what we're doing now. We might be able to get to a point where we're competing regularly with top 12ish classes while ya'll are pulling top 3 classes, but on a program level we won't be competitive as it stands because we're not doing that and we have no idea whether Harsin can elevate that level of talent to compete with your level of talent (assuming we got to that point).
Now, we've got enough talent this season that we could probably knock off UGA or Bama under the right circumstances, but we won't be competing with you guys for titles unless it's just one of those seasons. But even that isn't really sustainable, we've got a manpower drop off next season and we're not recruiting like we need to. There is a lot of buzz that this team is coming together well, and I think it might be legit, but that may only mean we exceed expectations and win 8-9 games.
