What intersectional rivalries would you like to see?

I saw the thread about former SEC and regional OOC rivalries that have bitten the dust that we would like to see make a return, and it got me thinking about nob-regional rivalries.

I know that Alabama used to play Penn State a lot, but I can't think of many others, although I am sure that there are some that I just don't know about.

Here are some of my ideas for fun intersectional rivalries. I know that y'all will have different ideas, and it's fun to think about:

Alabama vs. USC -- I know that they played a couple of games in the 60s and 70s. USC is down right now, but it would be fun for the traditional football giant of the South and the traditional football giant of the West to play every year.

Auburn vs. Oregon -- The two times they played last decade were both great games. For some reason, I can't really put my finger on it, these two programs seem so similar and simultaneously dissimilar. I think it'd be a fun series.

Florida vs. Michigan -- These two teams have played a couple of times recently. Michigan has been ok recently but has fallen short of lofty expectations. If Michigan could get it rolling, this would be a very competitive and highly significant yearly series.

Georgia vs. Oklahoma -- The 2018 Rose Bowl was one of the best games that I have ever seen. Outside of that game, they have never played before. This series would give exciting games.

LSU vs. Ohio State -- LSU waxed them in the national championship game 13 years ago, but Ohio State is the premiere football program of the Midwest. With LSU's new high flying offensive identity, these could be some very entertaining and well-played games.

Tennessee vs. Nebraska -- Both of these teams are traditional powers that have slipped the last ten years or so. Personally, I think Tennessee is much closer to being relevant again than is Nebraska, but if they could both return to former glory, then this would be a premiere OOC series.

Texas A&M vs. Penn State -- They haven't played each other too often, but I think this would be an intriguing matchup with Penn State being consistently decent and Jimbo having Texas A&M on the rise.

Vanderbilt vs. Northwestern -- Very similar identities as schools: top-tier private universities, and both have had limited football success, but these would be fun matchups between similar programs.

As for the other schools, I couldn't really think of a great matchup and didn't want to strain myself trying to pigeon hole a matchup, but I am sure other people will have good ideas that I totally missed.

Both have reputations for fancy high flying explosive offenses but without an elite all American caliber qb neither has accomplished very much with them

It seemed like Tennessee and UCLA used to play semi-regularly, those were usually good games

We play them pretty regularly already.

I'd like to see us play Miami regularly again. We used to when we were both independent. We have a home and home scheduled with them a few yrs down the road and I'm looking forward to it.

Most Played Intersectional Games (non-SEC/original ACC/B12)

- Tennessee has played UCLA 15 times, Boston College 10 times; Notre Dame, Army 8 times; Penn State, Washington State 5 times
- LSU has played Notre Dame 12 times; Colorado, Nebraska 6 times; Oregon, Oregon St, Syracuse, Wisconsin 4 times
- Georgia has played Yale 11 times; NYU 6 times; Boston College, Pitt, Temple, 4 times
- Vanderbilt has played Michigan 11 times; Army 9 times; Air Force 5 times; Northwestern 4 times
- Kentucky has played Villanova 9 times; Penn State 6 times
- Auburn has played Villanova 7 times; Nebraska and Wisconsin 4 times
- Texas A&M has played UCLA 6 times; Notre Dame 5 times

Pretty wild how little most of the SEC has played B10/P12/Notre Dame.

I would go with Oregon vs Arkansas because we at least have a heated rivalry in track to sort of spice up things.

For LSU it has to be renew the series with Notre Dame. The only problem for LSU is that Notre Dame used that to come down and recruit in the Catholic schools in the LSU backyard.

I have no desire to play Oregon again. We had a fun 2 game series with West Virginia in 08 and 09 though, I wouldn't mind seeing that. VA Tech would be ok if they get their shite together. Cavaliers and their shitty fans can frick right off though.

TCU makes sense for us. Old southwest conference teams. Could alternate between Jerry’s world and Little Rock.

They’re a decent program probably in our weight class.

I'd like to see a yearly matchup between fsu and LSU. They kicked our asses in the 90s, and I'd like 10 years of revenge. I know we scheduled a home and home starting the 2021 season, but it's not enough.

Texas Tech/Miss State is a correct answer.

Alabama/Pedo State
Tennessee/Nebraska
Georgia/Wisconsin
Florida/Ohio State

A B1G/SEC Challenge in Week 1 or Week 2 would be bad arse.

Mentioned this in another thread, but Fayetteville is closer to Lincoln than all but 2 SEC schools.

Crazy they have only played once.
