I just happened to be on a certain zoom conversation regarding this 15 min ago.

Here was the gist re: Season ticket holders

1) If you want to attend games, you can, business as usual.

2) If you Don't want to attend because of Covid, you will be able to cite your reasons, the university will forego printing your tickets this year. You do not lose you seats for the next year and your donations will apply to 2020.

3) You can pick back up in the 2021 season right where you left off as a ticket holder.

4) They will be working out how to take temperatures at the gate in mass. Not by hand, but similar to airports where it auto-detects people as they walk by. Think metal detector apparatus.

Note: This is where their thinking lies as of today.

That is good news. I’m sure many SEC schools will follow

It's an approach they are piggy-backing that is coming from the schools and how they will go back in the fall.

Putting the choice in the individuals hands. For schools, putting the choice in the parents hands.

Important note to know: They are watching what elementary schools are doing for children because they are considered the most fragile and if that age group is finding a way to go back, then why can't adults.

How are they handling all the new people that bought season tickets who want to renew next year? They've been blowing me up trying to get me to buy some.

If you were granted season tickets for 2020 and are opting in for the season, you are all good.

If you have been granted season tickets for 2020 and opting-out, then you will be able to roll over to 2021.

They are really trying to make this work and since public K-12 schools have to decide what they are doing by July 15th, they are waiting to see where they settle.

Should this be 2021?

No, they will roll over your tickets already purchased for 2020, but not donation.

Again, all tentative and could change once they settle on some decisions.

I'm more saying if 5000 people opt out this year, and 5000 people get on the list to take their place, and all 10000 of those want tickets for 2021, who is the university screwing? The new guys who only made 1 year's dontation?

That's what I was afraid of. I figured they would have to roll over the price of the tickets but wasn't sure about the tradition fund donation.

Thanks for the info.

In your scenario, they would screw the 5000 who want to get on the list to take your spot, but they aren't letting that happen.

Update: Ticket printing happens the first week of August with the print shop, so they have essentially the next 4-5 weeks to make their decisions, get the info to the ticket holders and give them a time frame to opt-in or opt-out.

They are literally suggesting that your ticket will not be printed if you opt-out. No one slides into your spot.

I like this method more than anything else I've heard so far. Basically saying: if you want to go the game knowing that you have a chance to contract Covid, that's your right and don't hold us responsible. But if you don't, we get it and you won't be penalized

I see. As a non ticket holder(and out of state resident with no interest), I've just gotten a few emails saying there were season tickets available for the first time.

I guess this email refers to people who already paid and that UGA would just leave as empty seats.

That is because they technically haven't changed the previous years process where less people have signed up in a given year. So, you are seeing the messaging as if its a down year and people just aren't buying/renewing.

However, once they finalize the plan, that messaging may go away for tickets being available.

The one offs right now are the kick off classics and neutral games because its in other states and/or not your normal city and venue.

Is UGA actually printing tickets this year?

Auburn is going to all eTickets, or so they have said. Supposed to make it easier to list on the resale sites, as well as easier to transfer between folks.

I also wonder if this will allow a longer decision window.

It won't matter because there will not be a season.

Thanks for this, Dawg4Life47.

It's obviously going to be a fluid situation, but we certainly appreciate any info nonetheless on the current thinking.
