I'd be interested in reading about the Patterson family and how they affected things. Like I said, I'm pretty sure there was always a weird deal that any school who wanted Shea had to hire his (allegedly) underqualified brother onto the staff. Just seems like an interesting story on how family can glob onto an athlete's potential career and can end up running things into the ground.

Let me guess, you think things like the textbooks are the same things as paying recruits to come to your school.

There was the Albert Means thing, and that was 20 years ago.

He sucks...but he did finish with more yards in 13 games than Fromm did in 14...so there's that. Then again...Jamie Newman finished with more in 12 than Fromm did in 14...so I guess it isn't such a big accomplishment, after all.

His dad happened. I knew the family in Shreveport. His dad pimped out Shea to get his brother Sean a job. Nothing was ever Sheas fault. He took a sack- it was oline. He over threw a ball- the WR ran the wrong route- he went 3 and out it was the coaches fault for calling the wrong plays.

Shea was never held responsible and his character suffered, didn’t think he had to work and now everyone’s passed him up

Having DK Metcalf and AJ Brown to throw to tends to make one look better than they are.

He had a coming out party against A&M but then started to suck. He can't handle a snap consistently and runs around so much he loses 15-20 yards every sack he takes. Seemingly lost his spot to Ta'Amu after he got hurt and left.

What do you mean what happened? He was obviously vastly overrated coming out of hs. The guy just isn't any good and is one of those players that peaked in hs and got all kinds of attention, but when the competition amped up in college ball, he wasn't talented enough to improve his game and take it to the next level to be successful. It actually happens alot. These guys play their best ball in hs and you never see them be nearly as successful at the next level playing against other very skilled players. If happens. He was another bullet dodged by LSU. Thank God we didn't end up with him bc we may not have gotten burrow had he been here at LSU. We definitely wouldn't have won nearly as much as we have without him here.

If Alabama is paying players, then how did Ole Miss end up with all those instead of Alabama?

OM got all they really wanted from Shea Patterson, a 5-star recruit to help their recruiting rankings.
