What does Nick Saban need to do to become the greatest coach of all time?

He's the only coach to win titles at two different schools and he's two titles away from the Bear for most titles won. Would tying that record, with two more championships, make him the best of all time?

Go to another school and turn their program around

Go to Penn State and win 2-3 there.

I'd say so. The competition of today is tougher than what the Bear went against.

so winning a BCS title at LSU doesn't count Part of his legacy is winning titles at 2 different schools...

IMO he already is. This run Bama is on is top 5 ALLTIME. Sure Bama has had luck to get in BCSCG , but they've taken advantage of those lucky opportunities.

IMO when you talk about best ever you need to have some major contributions to the game beyond wins and losses. Saban is obviously one of the greats for winning but I personally just can't put him over someone like Knute Rockne who was such an incredible innovator in addition to winning at a huge clip.

Probably needs to find a way to beat the greatest college football player of all time first. Can he get it done Sept 14th?

This. He also doesn't have built in advantages that Beat had. Bear had no scholly restrictions and beat could sell TV time recruits( Bama was one of the few SEC program on national tv consistently.

He needs to field a team with an elite offense and defense that gets it done in every games. If he could go undefeated and win all games by double digits while defeating serious Top 10 teams along the way, then he should go down as the greatest coach of all time. The offense isn't there yet, but I know Saban can field great defenses.
