The consensus of this board is that he sucked until 2 months ago when Auburn fired him and now the whole conference sans Auburn fans think he's great.

I don’t think much. He’s decent, not great. Don’t hate him, don’t love him. He’s definitely a decent head coach given his record vs Saban, but I wouldn’t be too excited if he was my head coach.

Gus will run a clean program, and he'll graduate players, and he'll never draw attention from the NCAA.
He would do well at a lesser division. He was just in over his head at the SEC level and he became paranoid and stubborn to a fault.

I never liked him as a competitor. LSU was 5-3 vs Gus.

We can't all be as smart as Auburn. If we were we would have hired him and then given him a huge extension with a mammoth buy out. Congrats on being so much smarter than us.
And I think you are reading what people are saying wrong. They don't like Malzahn at all. They just like him better than they like Harsin.
However, maybe Harsin can match what Malzahn did and have Auburn playing for the National Championship in his first year.
