He was trending up a couple of seasons ago, last year seemed rough and this year he gave up.

Tried to compete with Mus Galzahn and basically baby back bitched about everything. Oh, and a complete sore loser, talking about getting stuck in elevators and offenses going too fast.

Oh, and prayers sent to Austin Allen. Real shame his talent was wasted, getting body-slammed more times than Hulk Hogan in his Arkansas career. He would've been All-SEC at Bama..

Physical run first don't work unless you are elite. They aren't elite and need a gimmick offense....

Lack of Oline since 2015, horrible defensive product most of his years.

Gustav killed him.

Could not compete with Auburn and began stress eating. This lead to morbid obesity and obstructive sleep apnea.

Poor sleep quality led to depression and apathy and statements after losses like "it is what it is".

Gus is a murderer.

The change of offense with Enos was a disaster. Bert's strength was supposed to be making Arkansas into "Oline U." The offensive line was the greatest weakness this year. No running game in 2017 either when Bert had always had a 1,000-yard rushing back every year he coached.

Plus he really seemed to be mailing it in at the start of the season. Yes he's a new father but so what many of us have been or are new fathers and we don't skimp our responsibilities. Ultimately his condition probably doesn't allow him to give 100% to his job.

stressing good character and good grades and running an uncommon clean program doesn't work in the sec.

Possibly, nothing would surprise me about him.

Lack of talent number one and giving up this year after he finally figured out he will always have less talent than most western teams number two.

Personnel mismanagement(if you ask the fans)
Very relaxed practices(according to previous players that have watched a few)
Seniority favoritism/favoritism in general(he will start players with better talent behind them just because.(Look at the Oline for example and our kicker issues)

The real answer isn't one simple response other then he just did not get it.

He did not get football in the SEC and the pace of it. He never hired Southern coaches, he went to the Midwest for his hires. Bielema would have made a great coach at Iowa.

He made a very poor coach at Arkansas.

He shouldn’t have challenged Bama right outta the gate. REC don’t play.
