Yeah that’s what I’m getting at. I remember going to watch a Titans game at a bar with some friends just expecting no one to care. Then we get surrounded by this group of like 25 from Mass who were hardcore Patriots fans.

I graduated grad school in 2008 and I truly cannot even fathom that situation. It's unreal how much has changed in a decade.

The 50+ generation. And those were split. My dad grew up in Huntsville listening to Red's games as a kid.

That’s actually really surprising. For my dad it was the Redbirds in far West Alabama

- NFL : Don't care
- NBA : Really don't care
- MLB : Really don't care
- NHL : Don't care
- MLS : Really don't care

More teams I don't like. I don't like the Falcons and Braves.

Strangely I've gotten all aboard the disaster that is the Redskins train since moving up to DC. Not sure why, I don't care about the super popular Caps, no one cares about the Wizards at the moment, I'm a Braves fans so no Nats, but for some reason I'm all in on the Redskins.

It’s because you’re in a northeastern city
They LOVE the NFL like we love CFB

Yea - they got the Reds on WLW and the Cardinals on KMOX. He said almost all of his friends were either Cards or Reds fans.

There is still a large contingency of Reds fans in Northeast Tennessee. The Reds Network has an affiliate in the Tri-Cities.

North Alabama and Middle Tennessee have a pretty deep rooted hockey scene dating back to the Cold War when all the German scientists came to Huntsville.

Lots of Chiefs and Royals fans in Northwest Arkansas as well
10 years ago you couldn't find any. I never understood why the Chiefs games were always on tv in NWA because there weren't any Chiefs fans there but I'm definitely starting to see growth of the Chiefs brand in Arkansas. I have family members that are bandwagon Chiefs fans. I don't get it. I even have a couple of Chiefs shirts and claim to root for them but I actually want them to lose. I've honestly never met a single Royals fan in Arkansas but I haven't been living in NWA for awhile. The only professional team that has ever actually carried Arkansas is the Cardinals.

Oh yeah - they've had terrible attendance outside of the good run they had and then this year's playoffs.

Arkansas:
Dallas Cowboys (with Chiefs fans a large minority in NWA)
Cardinals (with Royals fans a large minority in NWA)

NBA depends on where you live. There are more OKC Thunder fans in NWA than anything else.

You haven’t gotten the southern baw experience at UA until you’ve shouted “Go back to Chicago” at some girl leaving the game early who only stayed till the fourth quarter for Dixieland Delight.

Yep, bottom 4 of attendance this year
Now all the sudden my home State is “hockey town”
I’m guilty of it but don’t act like we’ve been “a bunch of jerks” for a long time

I’d go to a few games as a kid, the arena is in basically in Cary, anytime a big northern team with a large fanbase (Rangers , Penguins, Bruins Flyers etc) came to play the arena was 80% them

That's not my experience. ONLY in NWA do Arkansas fans really like the Chiefs in large numbers, but I've always seen their fans for 20 years up here.

The Royals fandom is growing largely due to the local Springdale AA ballteam being the Royals affiliate. Not sure they've been here much more than 10 years.
