Bama, Tennessee, Auburn, and UF all were very good during the 90's. LSU, Arkansas, Ole Miss, Miss State, and Georgia we're no pushovers.

I even remember Kentucky having some decent teams with Tim couch.

Don't remember much about South Carolina. Vandy was vandy best I remember.

You don’t remember 90s LSU football correctly.

This. Until Saban, they struggled bad.

LSU was pretty good under Dinardo for three years in the 1990s (1995-1997). We struggled before that and after that until Saban showed up.

They had a 10-2 and 9-3 season with Dinardo I know. Kevin Faulk was a great back around that time.

This is how the SEC teams ranked nationally in winning pct. for the decade:

4th UF
5th UTK
17th Bama....they had to forfeit 8 wins one season or they would be higher
23rd AU
24th UGA Georgia and Auburn had some bad years this decade.
40th Ole Miss
47th MSU
61st Arkansas
62nd LSU
80th SC
83rd UK
100th Vandy

Last ten years: 2008-2017

1st Bama
11th LSU
15th UGA
21st UF
27th AU
32nd SC
35th Mizzou
41st A&M
46th MSU
55th Ole MIss
60th Arkansas
76th Tennessee
90th Vandy
90th UK

Bama- better
LSU- much, much better
Georgia- better
UF- worse
AU- same
SC- much, much better
Mizz- N/A
A&M- N/A
MSU- same
Ole Miss- worse
Arkie- same
Tennessee- much, much worse
UK- worse
Vandy- better

2 teams much better
3 teams better
1 team much, much worse
3 teams worse
3 teams the same

The divisions are certainly imbalanced and have been for the past ten seasons, but the conference as a whole may actually be better.

Yeah, I didn't mean that we haven't had better teams as of late. Just that the conference was more evenly balanced in the 90s.

the 90s was balanced in that 8 schools sucked at football while 4 were clearly better.

2006-2013 is the most 'balanced' the league has been with regards to good football among all members. 4 schools won national titles (some multiple) - 9 different schools (5E/4W) played in the SECCG.

Still the #4 rusher in SEC history and #2 in all purpose yards

He should be in the CFB HOF yesterday

I can't quite remember if it was the 90's or early 2000's, but I remember losing $1,000 (two $500 bets) on Alabama beating UCLA.

Frick you Bob Toledo...

I think the question you really need to ask is were the 90s the weakest the SEC has ever been?

You want to talk about balance in the SEC, just look at the 1980s. Parity within the conference was at an all-time high and every member of the so-called "Big Six" won at least one conference championship.

Auburn was exactly the same as we are now from what I remember. We followed up a 5 win season with an undefeated season and a few nice years and then follow up a SECCG appearance and 10 win season with a 3 win season.

If you combine the 1998 and 1999 seasons, we come up with one win. 1 ...

No offense to you personally, but I hate this argument. Anytime someone other than Alabama wins a division, we have to hear that the SEC is down, or it's weak, or whatever.

When everyone beats up on each other, it generally means the SEC is collectively stronger. If LSU and Alabama are down, it doesn't mean the SEC is down. It means other teams are better. State had some stout teams in the 90s. AS much as I hate to admit it, Ole Miss did too. You gotta give credit where it's due.

No. 2000-2010 was

Auburn, Bama, UF, and LSU all won NCs. Then you had a really good thUGA with Mark Richt, Arkansas with Bobby Petrino, and tGOAT Ole Ball Coach at South Carolina.

bama wasn't "very good" for most of the 90's. Kentucky wasn't decent with Tim Couch. Entertaining but still a pushover. 90's wasn't all that balanced. Florida dominated.
