They've been after Dudy Noble for years. And Humphrey whose name is on the Coliseum.

Unfortunately Rupp (who was from Kansas) is incorrectly tied to the racist attitude of James Michener (the author of Chesapeake) in a sports article written about Kentucky vs Texas Western in the NCAA finals in 1966.

Pat Riley was asked about Rupp and seemed taken aback by the suggestion that Rupp was a racist.

Yes.

Should've been warned weeks ago. Instead he keeps chugging right along, one self created controversy at a time.

He’s a grown man who is obsessed with drama. Needs to log off the internet for a few days or preferably forever

Why do you even care? You are a Columbia fan, which is most definitely a racist university.

Newsflash: People were racist back in those days, it was a widely held belief that black people were inferior.

It was also a widely held belief that jerking off led to blindness or insanity.

Rupp was a graduate of the University of Kansas, played for Phogg Allen. Got his masters degree in mathematics at Columbia University in New York Coached high school basketball in Illinois where he had black players on his team. Came to UK circa 1930. Unlike other SEC teams UK played against teams with black players. He offered Butch Beard a scholarship in 1963 and a got a commit until Beard's parents feared for his life on road trips in the SEC. Rupp too received death threats from fans across the SEC. Tried to recruit Wes Unseld, finally signed and played Tom Payne. Was he a leader in civil rights. No. Was he a racist? Only God knows what was in his heart. Probably no more so than anyone else in that day and time. If he was, he wan't very good at it. He found scholarships for local black kids at northern schools and his all opponents team featured 5 black players out of the 10 he selected. The charges against him came years after the KY-Texas Western game for the 1966 NCAA championship and no one on the squad heard what was later reported. UK beat an all-white Duke team in the National semis. If UK had lost the game would Duke have caught the crap we have heard for years?

Rupp recruited black players before it was popular.
