The countdown to OU and Texas joining the SEC is in the air and you can feel it as coaches and AD's meet in Sandestin this week.

I'm a life-long OU fan and former student and beyond excited for this milestone to finally get here. I think I speak for a LOT of people in saying this. Understandably, some SEC fans would rather keep things as they are. I get it. However, just imagine the absolutely incredible games we are going to see.

Local bars in DFW are starting to advertise on the SEC Network during Paul Finebaum this week. I have never seen this before this week. Eyes and ears are starting to focus in, and they belong to OU and Texas fans, not just A&M anymore.

Anyway, a few questions. When do you think we will start to see this board create new sub-forums for the new fans? When will Taylor Hicks be called in to the studio to revise the Finebaum theme song? When will all the promos for ESPN and the SEC Network be changed to add the new teams?

I know I sound like a little boy about to get a new bike. I turn 60 next year and am so thrilled about all of this that I cannot wait for it to get here. I just hope I don't keel over the day before the 2024 season starts!

We had our flag planted at the SEC spring meetings hotel.

And if travelers to future games spend extra time they can take in some OKC food up the road. Just ranked 87th in world by TasteAtlas

Can’t wait for 24!

And which logo does everyone like the best

Don’t blame you for being excited. You should be. Week to week passion in the SEC is awesome. Big crowds. Loud stadiums. Rabid fan bases. It’s all here.

Go to every road game. Experience it all. Week in and week out.. it does mean more.

Every game will finally matter instead of trying to say Iowa state was a great game every year. Even if some of your teams are not as good as Iowa state the sheer volume of fans and stadiums sizes and historical programs really excites most OU fans. Being honest most of us OU fans knew staying in the Big 12 even running it for 20 years was not as good as competing for the sec title . We were losing every head to head recruiting battle with Bama LSU UGA and even some of the smaller sec schools for certain in state kids. OU simply couldn’t be the program we are use to being in the big 12 . The sec simply got too big and the reputation was tough to overcome . Even if Bob Stoops played and beat sec teams it didn’t matter the perception was the conference was not as strong and we were not as strong . Now all that is gone and the games will get played and people will see what’s what.

My honest opinion is that the bigger the SEC gets, the less it feels like the SEC. That being said, what is done is done and welcome to the party. I look forward to games against both.

I think it’s great for the SEC and OU/TX.

Looking forward to it. I think college football will look way different though inside of 10 years, and maybe not for the good. I will enjoy it while it lasts though.
