Was there this much honest resentment about A&M and Mizzou?

I expect there was some “We don’t need them”, and “What do those weirdos bring?”.
This, though, seems to have a substantial amount of outright refusal and warning that it’s a bad move.

No. But the more I think about all of this the more I think I am ok with it. Just sucks for all the schools that will be left out once it all gets sliced up.

Yeah they all wanted OU and Texas back then because they saw expansion the same way a six year old sees collecting Pokémon.

When you remove A&M fans, there are only like 10 people going off the rails about it. The last expansion was far less well-received and opened a whole host of potential (and realized) issues within the conference. No one cares about ruining the SEC because TAMU and Mizzou already did that

It was a lot of “we don’t need them” and “not a cultural fit” toward Mizzou. I think SEC schools were blissfully unaware of how weird Aggy is, otherwise they might have been less excited about y’all as well.

I think most fans would prefer not to have it. But ultimately we know it’s a money and expansion thing we have no control over. SEC wants to make progression towards nfl type structure and they’re going to do what they’re going to do. It’s also a control and power move on their part. We have no control over their plans. This was not apparent with the mizz and aTm move. So no, there definitely wasn’t this type of pushback. But the pushback is definitely dying down now to acceptance except for some loud aTm fans.

They knew us better than you, we had played LSU and Arky plenty before the move.
Our weird is just more self contained, we don’t smear it on the wall (except maybe at our stadium).

Back then, everyone questioned why two largely irrelevant programs in Missouri and A&M were being added instead of bigger names.

You're right. This shite is buiness pure and simple. I don't understand why people fail to see it. It cannot be stopped. The economy in general is built on expansion and of course that model extends to sports too.

The SEC could have done better back then by picking Florida State, Clemson, Texas and OU to be honest. These 4 schools have been relevant in the championship and BCS era.
I have no problem with Texas joining the SEC, why A&M is resenting the addition is self interest and not the entire SEC's best interest. Very self serving and the door is open for you guys to leave.
Texas joining the SEC may swing the recruiting advantage back to the Longhorn's way and we shall see

No. Everyone understood the need for expansion back then and Mizzou and A&M were close enough geographically to other SEC schools/regions to be believable.
Announcement of Texas and Oklahoma expansion came out of nowhere, and they are programs that most SEC fans want nothing to do with. Oklahoma is a complete ‘wtf’ addition - even more bizarre than Mizzou was.

Either watch or don’t. Nobody cares. But it’s happening.

I recall the narrative, why is the SEC giving these two outlier teams the fame and stature that comes with being in the SEC? What do they bring to the table, and it is only watering down the perceived stature of the SEC.
In the end it was just accepted and you gotta play ball on Saturday.
As an LSU fan I am looking forward to the atm/tu rivalry week and all the pent up hatred it brings.

So that 58% of No votes in the poll is all Aggies?

There was a lot of this. Aggie has weird gay traditions, and Mizzou was perceived as a non-culture fit.

99% of that outrage is from Aggie fans.

I don’t remember any resentment about either school until the shite, literally, started on Mizzou’s campus. Of course, their own fans were aghast and wanted to shut the school down for a while. They corrected course.

There's a difference between voting no and the doom and gloom fricks currently spamming the board
