Was there ever a doubt that NCAA would award USM the host site?

If they aren’t forced to make teams and their fans endure Lindsey Nelson Little league park then the choice seems pretty easy to me.

Capacity of LNS 4,387
Capacity of PTP 4,300

320-360 390 360-320
340 400 340

Both are turf.

Purely a gift to USM to throw a bone to the little guys.

Embarrassing a Conference USA team has a field on the same level as an SEC team.

Jokes on Tenner, not USM

Seating capacity sure, but Pete Taylor can fit more than LNS can. USM's highest attended game is a full 1,300 more than Tennessee's highest.

You think 390 and 400 to dead center are even remotely comparable?

Same with 340 to the corners vs 320.

C'mon man, not even trolling, high schoolers would love to play at LNS with those dimensions.

Don't finish 7th in your conference. And if you do finish that low, you better have an SoS in the top 3 (see: Kentucky, University of)

What is more embarrassing is that USM averages more fans per game than UT

FYI- USM is Sunbelt now

Vols could have added enough temp seating and filled the party deck. And those are not make capacities, those are highest attendance numbers.

And USM is not even selling tickets to the public. It’s 600 to the Vols and USM season ticket holders. No real impact on the community.

600 allocated to the Vols is public record, as is the balance being allocated solely for USM season ticket holders. So unless those season ticket holders scalp their tickets (at the risk of losing their tickets) then you are going to see diminished local impact. The folks traveling and renting hotels and cars, flying in, etc. is lower than otherwise. And let’s be honest, Hattiesburg doesn’t really offer much to do. Sure you can visit the African American military museum (it’s pretty good actually) but what else? I looked up the tourism website and it has Chuck E. Cheese listed as things to do.

You don't have to keep proving to me that you don't know what you are talking about. I got it already

Hattiesburg is actually a pretty cool town. Lots of great locally owned places to eat and watch the game. This game will be on every TV and every fan that can be at or around the stadium will be there. The Roost will be hopping this weekend. I would suggest your RF go dark on his social media. It is probably to late for him already.

The Pete is not a fun place for opposing teams. The fans are right on top of you. The bullpen is surrounded by fans and they will distract you. The 12 oz loungers by the bullpen are brutal

I’m not playing so I can’t lose… and I had enough fun in Mississippi to have no desire to go back. If the Vols had hosted I would have made atleast a game but I’ll just stay home and watch it on TV. Hattiesburg is a fun quaint little town but local dinning and an axe throwing arcade aside there is nothing for families to do. And with no tickets to be had anyway why bother making the trip.

I’m not mad they are hosting but let’s be honest why they are hosting, it was purely a committee decision and had nothing to do with the bids or facilities.
