Probably not The worst, but gotdamn he was awful. I don't think I've ever watched a more poorly coached, porous defense.

Dave Clawson was a pretty bad hire as well.

Ding, Ding...we have a winner. Dave Clawson was the only person in the SEC who could keep Arian Foster under 1,000 yards in a season. If Fulmer had hired Chaney, or another competent OC, he would probably still be HC at UT.

Lou Tepper with his 'read and re-act' defense with the 'drop linebacker' gets a lot of consideration. LSU was in the top 6 in the Nation in 1998 until we started playing good SEC teams.
Every team that beat us in '98 had a player who was named offensive player of the week after playing LSU.

Nick fricking Sabin was the worst hire at BAMA, ever!!! At least for every team in the SEC and Nation...

Sunseri the worst hire in SEC history, no question.

Nope. Crooms wins this hands down. JLS would take it but he wasn't a permanent hire to start with.

If we are considering bad coordinator hires, then one of the biggest head scratchers to me was Coach Stallings firing Homer Smith and replacing him with Woody McCorvey.

Also Shula hiring Dave Rader after he had been out of coaching for 4 years was a head scratcher also.

Yes.

Only reason it was even a bad hire was because of the scheme change. If they're already a 3-4 when he gets there, they're probably still there now.

Vol fans blaming him are retarded. It wasn't a good hire, but not because Sal is poor coach, it is because their administration is as downy as it gets. This much coaching turnover with such a dearth of talent everywhere other than the OL and WRs was never a recipe for success. Changing schemes like they did was either an extreme example of Tennessee being Tennessee or a calculated move to try and sink Dooley last year.

Hands down the correct answer. Maybe the worst hire in CFB history.

I'm providing a topic for discussion, and giving my opinion.

no wonder you went to Ole Miss. That 17 ACT score must not have afforded you many opportunities.

Coming from a fanbase that just hired John Jancek as your new DC with Wil-Mart as db coach?

Jancek is the guy that passed on Jarvis Jones so he could land Chase Vasser just to be clear about what you have as your DC now...

Oh, just you wait. JJ and Willie are about to makre you completely rethink that "worst DC in modern era of football" part.

Croom was pretty bad but Mark May seems to think he is the best coach ever in the state of Mississippi
