I didn’t see it in real time.

Can’t expect the refs to make that call imo.

Sorry I saw it right away. And you are a ref that’s an easy call. Bad mistake on the big stage.

it was extremely obvious.

defender was nowhere near it... player dribbled off his foot.

the rule is really simple. if you stop dribbling and it's not because of the defender, it's a double dribble.

LOL. It’s not like it was a bang bang play. If you are a ref, know the rules.

Yea, it most definitely was. Ref obviously thought Auburn flicked it but he just dribbled it off his leg.

Barkley didn’t know it was double dribble until he was told by the producers. They also just had a segment explaining why it got by everyone during the game. Should it have, no but it did.

Yes. Despite the fact he dribbled off his leg, he grabbed the ball with BOTH hands and started dribbling again. Even if you discount the dribble off the leg/foot, he grabbed it with both hands. That's double dribble in middle school.

It will make the refs look bad, no doubt.

No doubt on the foul at the end.

I’m actually impressed the ref called it. He was very locked in to doing his job to make that call. I think everyone was watching the ball. But that’s obviously his job

WTF? So you can't expect the refs to know the rules, recognize the violation and actually make the correct call?

OK, I guess this past year of sports have lowered the bar to a very pathetic fricking level for sports fans.

Exactly. This was not hard. I can’t believe pearl or the auburn folks didn’t catch it at that moment.

The dribble off the foot was inconsequential. Auburn guy was really not even close.

They why did no one talk about it until after the game was over and the booth had picked it up and showed it? Why did they just have a segment explaining why it wasn’t obvious in the moment?

I should’ve worded my question differently.

Did anyone think it was in real time? Fans weren’t outraged, commentators didn’t say anything.

It’s easy to call after, but in the moment that would be an impossible call. As you said, looked like the Auburn player touched it or something.

It was as obvious in real time as the missed PI in the NFC Championship.
