I’m not going to wade through 9 pages of this, but the issue is rather simple. The contract between the two schools ends after this year. Rick Barnes hates Penny and doesn’t feel that the Memphis game is a necessity to his program. Therefore he’s bypassing a chance to renew the series in favor of other high profile matchups.

You aren’t too bad. 
One thing I’ve discovered through various Memphis threads otb over the past few years is that nothing is worse than the Mississippi State football/Memphis basketball fan. I can’t imagine there are many of these but the few I’ve encountered otb are the worst OAT.

Why ANYONE would want to be a Mississippi State fan is beyond me. Full disclosure... my two oldest go there. I, for the life of me, can't understand it. It's where all their friends went so it's where they went. Who am I to get in the way of their edumacation.

I'm a Tennessee guy. In most respects, I cheer on Memphis and want it to do well. But y'all do make it hard sometimes xD

Lighten up, Francis, it's all good natured fun. At least from this end.
Also... dang... we just got hammered. Geez. I guess the moral of this is... and it makes perfect sense when you think about it... "If we tell you a player is ineligible, don't play him anyways."

Rejected UTK applicants = UofMemphis students
SEC > whatever conference you're in
You can walk around UTK campus as well as all of Knoxville without the constant fear of being a victim of criminal activity (though the occasional methhead might get in your face)
Trademark orange > boring, nondescript royal blue
VOLS have a unique mascot, representative of the state of Tennessee. Smokey is a cute dog. On the other hand, Memphis, like dozens of other schools, has a plain ol' tiger.
Our athletic facilities make yours look like a high school
VOLS Hoops don't have to cheat and live in fear of becoming ineligible to compete successfully in D1

But you've been much better than us in football this decade. I'll throw y'all that bone. :)
