Not sure why some of you keep saying that black isn't one of our colors. It is one of the early historical colors

Well this couldn't happen because of NCAA rules about uniforms. I do think Florida's all white vs. Bama was . Would be really cool to see UF come out in the all whites and UGA in all blacks.
I think both teams can wear the dark jerseys, as long as the home team doesn't object. Kiffen wanted to do it when they played at Alabama. If I remember correctly, there was precedent from earlier Bama v UT games from like the 60's or 70's which was his reason for requesting it.

Nope, see UCLA and USC a few years ago. It's not like you get crazy fines, but it's still against the rules.

Maybe the rules have changed. I went back to look at the article, it had been approved by the SEC. You don't even have to get approval to do it if you are willing to take a 15 year penalty in each half. That is all according to this article Jerseys so it could have changed since then but I am too lazy to go digging around in the rule books to see.

yea like I said, it's against the rules (hence the penalties) but it can happen. I think the rules differ between conferences because UCLA had to use a timeout each half. I'm assuming it doesn't happen more because not many coaches want to take the penalties for it.

I guess it is possible to make those jerseys uglier

I like Dooley's response and TN doesn't have Phil Knight swooshing around the facilities like Oregon.

Why don't they learn to respect the tradition that is Tennessee football and worry about being worth a shite instead of what they look like.

Yeah well Clemson's original colors were red and blue but you don't see them busting those out for old times sake.
And for the sake of proof..
quote:
Orange, Purple and the Tiger — The first “colors” of Clemson can be seen in an early diploma displayed on campus. But to everyone’s surprise, they’re red and blue! The orange and purple began when Walter Merritt Riggs formed Clemson’s first football team in 1896. Because Riggs had come from Agricultural and Mechanical College of Alabama (later renamed Auburn), he borrowed ideas from their team colors, orange and purple, and their mascot, the Tiger.

Well said! Even if Dooley wanted the changes they still wouldn't happen. The boosters will have none of it at all. When we came out in black in 09 against USC. Many boosters were raising immortal hell and threatened to not donate any after that. They wont be dressing in black or any other stupid color other than orange and white going forward. Which is the way it should be!

Seriously? I was at that game and on those UT shuttles back to the hotel the post game was on and all the radio host and callers could talk about was the black jerseys in a very positive light?

We're 2-1 in blackout games FWIW. And as mentioned several times, black is obviously one of our colors. Ya know...red and black. UT wanting to wear black is completely stupid. It also boggles my mind why florida basketball wears black sometimes

If I were PManning and co. I'd be pissed.
More like oregon?
God forbid any LSU football player ever ever ever say that.
These kids need to realize these teams, traditions, programs are much bigger then they are.
STFU and play.

The fan base as a whole liked it but many of the old money boosters did not like it at all.

quit hating on jerseys that are just way too cool for school.

Almost all would be fine with it as long as we're winning.
Fans couldn't care less about tradition and uniforms if a coach is winning games.
