Dumb decision for the long term, no doubt. But it paid off in the short term with 2 MNCs and an annual conference championship.

When it's all said and done, I think VT and NC State will be the 15th and 16th members of the SEC, with Missouri moving to the West where they belong.

I agree

If it were to happen (and I'm not sold on it happening) these would be my picks. Most likely candidates for moving (UVA and UNC probably would go to the B1G) and add two new states to the footprint for the future SEC Network cable channel.

If they would have went SEC in 1991 they would be loaded financially. Look at them now....

UNC, Duke, and Wake are all tied at the hip. They are worried about academics first, second, and third, with basketball forth. football somewhere after that.

if UM and UVA got invites to the B1G, i think UVA would acquiesce to VT and allow them to go the SEC.

without such an invite, UVA (along with the governor's office and board) will block any potential VT move.

I remember our earlier discussions and we're in agreement that UVA has to get an invite out of the ACC before VT can go.

Are you sure Wake is part of the deal? I know UNC and Duke are tied due to basketball.

If those two get an invite out of the ACC would they also be willing to allow NCST to go to the SEC?

I'm still a little shocked that Mizzou got in before Tech. I expect the Hokies to be a part of the SEC in the not so distant future.

Geographically a North Carolina school and a Virginia school makes sense. Maybe VT and N.C. State.

to a lesser degree, yeah.

i dont think they have any real objections to ncst leaving, other than as we have discussed, it has to be a deal that works for everyone.
none of these teams, vt, ncst, unc, etc are going anywhere unless it turns out a win win for all parties involved - not just the team moving to the sec

VT is not a good fan base. They're not loyal at all.

You're right they're loyal to VT August to November and UNC December to March.

fancy meeting you in this thread.

no come on, its totally plausible for UVA to essentially pull a coup only to let VT walk away a decade later. MAKES PERFECT SENSE.

NC State sucks. VT would be solid, but never a top tier program in the SEC.
