Is scary if true. Dude has been there for two total program overhauls with some insane defenses that won NCs

Supposedly the Riley team meeting was a disaster for Riley with demarco murray and several players calling his arse out, and the players are mostly staying including Williams.

A program like OU shouldn't have to settle for a guy with no HC experience.

You don’t have a clue what a nasty defense looks like. You will soon tho

To be fair, that LSU team would’ve destroyed the 85 Bears

It looks like it's working out for Georgia.

Great hire imo. A lot better than I thought they'd be able to do given the fact that their last coach completely threw them under the best just over 24 hours ago. In a huge coaching carousel year, no less.

Venables as a HC doesn't scare me. Mark Stoops with Venables as DC would scare me though.

Hogs hired a former Clemson coordinator...

Good luck with that

It’s been 24 hours. I wouldn’t feel confident in this just yet.

Nah, we probably won’t play OU for about 8 years after they arrive in conference. Still haven’t played @A&M

I don't believe Riley to USC happened solely after the OSU loss. This has been lined up much longer. Probably a fees weeks after USC fired Helton.

FWIW, Venables has had some very good defenses but LSU nor Bama had too much trouble scoring recently.

Agreed, which makes it almost worse imo. If he waited this long, he could've at least let the university (which has ultimately made his career what it is) a heads up and given them a contingency plan, exactly like when he was ushered in to take over for Stoops after 2016, which gave OU a softer landing. If this was a secret that long, and assuming USC was saying "take your time", why not give the school a heads up?

Idk, I'm no expert on it since Texas only has openings after firing people.

I honestly like Lincoln Riley and all things considered, he hasn't been a douche or bad character guy at OU. And maybe he still is a good guy. But this is a snake move.

Didn't Stoops win a NC there with no previous experience?

Are all of you really 'confident' that Venables will be the OU coach?

Congrats on finding an exception. Germy and Muschamp both say hold my beer.
