Vandy Football is a microcosm of Cancel Culture

Vandy was a proud athletic University in years gone by. But then the 60s came about and the poison was administered. Today Vandy’s in-State enrollment stands at a pathetic 7% and dropping. A large body of students are foreign and have no appreciation for football. Common side-walk fans do not feel welcome. To make matters worse the administration robs from the rest of the SEC in football revenue and turns around to use the money for social engineering. Does this sound familiar at a higher level of governance?

You sound like you're mad about desegregation and others having opportunities.

No one on here feels sorry for or gives two shits about the whistler.

How much does that have to do with a demanding curriculum and selection process and Tennessee public schools failing to prepare students for those high demands. As far as I know Vandy is still a helluva University....almost an Ivy League type place....and at the end of the day it is a University, not an athletic department. I could of course be wrong about that but I have always thought Vandy was damned difficult to get into because of the high standards.....

7%?! Damn. That's pretty mind-blowing. I thought ours was on the low side at 56%.

Again, high admission standards in a state where public schools ain't exactly high quality. Tech is a helluva university recognized around the world as such...it is a destination school....I hate GT athletics as a UGA fan but GT as a University is a state and a national treasure. At the end of the day we need football mills with a university the football team can be proud of and we need places like Tech, Vandy and Duke where smart people can be educated to the benefit of the rest of us...doctors and engineers are important to the world....football is important but not nearly as important as making certain the toilet flushes when the handle is pulled....shite literally gets out of control without engineers....

A lot of my grandparents and Aunts and Uncles went to Vandy. it used to be the Nashville school. They pivoted away from that pretty hard and the last of the old guard fanbase is slowly dying out

Sounds like Vandy considers itself a university first and foremost, and the athletic department comes second.
Crazy concept.

What an unexpected reply. Almost like every other reply to every other thread on the god damn board no matter what the original discussion was about.

All that being said, it hasn’t hampered Vandy baseball which is on a fricking tear.

I don't know anything about Vanderbilt's admission policies but I have heard people speak of other private schools in the South and there is a preference given to out-of-state and foreign students. It is like there is a hostile attitude toward in-state people. Private schools love to have students from the northeast and west coast.
Friends of mine have family members employed at Vanderbilt and to hear them talk Vanderbilt is so PC these days that a straight white male works in a hostile work environment. Imagine the minefield a SWM has to navigate on a daily basis.

It sounds to me like Vandy expects a tolerant, professional environment
Simply do your Job, don't say offensive crap that doesn't belong in the workplace and you'll be OK
In the workplace your co workers don't need to hear every opinion that you have about every topic

College's and universities are a swamp land, private institutions are that on crack.

First off, this isn't GMATrant.com. The SEC is an athletic conference.
Second, for a TAMU fan to get all sanctimonious about collegiate academics over athletics is just because while TAMU is a decent academic school, it isn't even the top in its state - as opposed to Vandy.
TAMU has demonstrated it values athletics, with the $$$ sunk into Kyle Field and Jimbo. All that money could go to enhance the academic profile of TAMU, if academics were the most important thing to TAMU.
But TAMU paid a $75M 10 year contract to tie for 2nd place in the SEC-W one year, so congrats.

What you said all sounds good but reality is a little different than that. If you are a SWM in a work environment, where you are in the minority, you are not protected the same way other minorities are protected. The list of things people can offended at changes daily and is ever expanding. To think it is anything other than a minefield is to dismiss reality.

whatever happened to the days when you could safely smack the ladies at work on the arse?

Personally I think people need to keep in mind that for the most of us the vast majority of our lives happens outside of politics and the more it's left out of forums about football the better. Just one man's opinion
