some of you long-timers here know I've talked about growing up pulling for Vandy and still do when they don't play LSU. My dad passed away this morning around 3. I'm kinda in a daze right now.He had just turned 80, so we're not "shocked" but this happened suddenly and as much as I thought I would be,I wasn't/am not prepared.

So while we're waiting on people to call us back I'm zoning out here. When people here joke about "all 5 Vandy fans" at a game I chuckle because in the 1970's that was my dad and me. He graduated Vandy in 1960 and he knew as well as anyone more times that not they weren't good--in football. But that was our team and we'd go to Knoxville, Tuscaloosa and of course Nashville with generally less than great outcomes. But we had some great times on those trips. Went to Bloomington,IN Air Force Academy, bunch of good trips.

Thing is remember those 10 Rice fans at a game, well remember to those folks Rice means as much to them as Alabama,LSU,Georgia, etc means to you.

Enjoy the games. And tell your dad's I-59 Tiger said Hi!

Well that sucks man. Sorry for your loss. If you can, take a nice chunk of time off of work. In my case I was in a daze for a couple of weeks.

My sincere condolences. I know from experience that there's NOTHING that can adequately prepare one for the loss of a parent, and no words can make the pain go away. If possible, just do as you were doing in your post and try to remember the good times y'all had, and, if possible, share them with someone else close to both of you....God bless your family during this sad time.

Very sorry for your loss. I am sure he would want you to remember all those good times. As a Vanderbilt football and basketball season ticket holder I know how much we love every fan.
