Too bad there's a shortage of bricks in town.

Pruitt doing work.

Next moves will be outlawing Rocky Top and replacing the T on the helmets with numbers.

A&M systematically tore down the North Side Dorms over the last several years. They were approaching 100 years old. In Texas, if a building gets to be 100 years old all someone has to do is file a document and no one can touch it. Historical Marker added.

Ya know, if they weren't paying all that money to fired football coaches, maybe they'd have some for the needed repairs...

They really should raise money and preserve this house. It shouldn't be torn down.

They can use these to clean up the debris.

Neyland lived at ten different addresses
in Knoxville. Man had itchy feet.

Hey, he knew what he was getting into. You lose a game in the South, you can't just sit around waiting for the angry mob.

Edit: Twitter pic doesn't tell me much and I'm not up on 20th century suburban architectural trends. Was this place heavily associated with the General in a fan pilgrimage sort of way or just some place he happened to stay for a while?

I guess he moved every time he lost two or more games in a season.

No but he got called to active duty a couple of times, so that explains some of it. His tenure at Tennessee wasn’t unbroken because of this.

Was he at this particular house long? It looks like it was just a simple university provided residence on campus.

It's not about money. UT has been trying to expand into these neighborhoods for decades. This is the result of campus being buffered by a historic district. UT can only really expand in one direction due to the river.

That said, there will likely be enough outcry over this to stop it.

In fairness, he was deployed more than once during his time at UT. It's not like he was a regular coach and 'general' was just a nickname he was given. He was full on military -- friends and a former team of Gen. Omar Bradley. He was freaking Knighted by the Queen for his war efforts but his military obligations went beyond just WWII.

If you look at his biography, it's insane the shite he accomplished far beyond football.
