Awful Awful Awful Awful clock management by UT/Pruitt almost lost the game for the Vols. Pruitt called time out with 2:32 left to ice the IU kicker. BAD MOVE! IU used it's last time out after UT's first down play at 2:06. On 3rd and 6 UT snapped the ball with 7 seconds left on the Play-Clock. Referee stopped the clock at 1:11 to measure for UT first down. Referee restarts the clock after the measurement with 1:11 left on the clock and 25 seconds on the Play-Clock. UT could have run out the 25 seconds and took a Delay 0f Game Penalty leaving just 46 seconds on the clock but instead the Center moved the ball a half yard and drew an illegal Snap-Infraction penalty and stopped the clock again with 1:02 and 16 seconds left on the Play-Clock. UT punts the ball out of bounds and stops the clock again - STUPID! IU takes over at their 20 with 55 seconds to play. UT squandered at least 52 seconds with bad clock management and more if they don't punt the ball out of bounds.
I like Pruitt and think he's a great defensive coach but tonight he proved he's not a competent coach with horrible clock management at the most critical point of the game. UT won the game in spite of Pruitt's horrible clock management.

The clock stops on change of possession regardless of where the ball lands.
The issue was Kennedy getting the penalty. That's not Pruitt's fault.

JG sure was helping that bad clock management along.

If the ball doesn't go out of bounds the clock keeps running until the play is whistled dead and EATS UP MORE CLOCK!!!!!

Unless the returner fair catches it which is what he certainly would have done without a clear open running lane

The only awful move was lining up to go for it on 4th and 1 at the end. They shouldn’t have even lined up to go for it. Let the clock run down, take the delay of game, punt, and make Indiana go down the field with 25 seconds and no timeouts. I thought for sure Indiana was going to get in field goal range with that soft zone UT was running.

Somewhere, somebody is gonna come up with a nickname for Pruitt that is almost as good as Lester the Clock Molester.
