The Trojans top LSU's $12 million offer, an offer Oklahoma wasn't able to match.

Lotta ways one can look at this...

1 ... USC still has the cache' -- and the money -- to get what it wants when they're serious about football, and they are.

2 ... LSU isn't a bigger job than USC and overall resources and benefits aren't as expansive as USC's. One can't dismiss, either, the pending NCAA Jailhouse that may be coming, soon, for the LSU Tigers, and this may have been the trigger for Riley to go elsewhere.

3 ... Why wasn't Florida able to garner Riley's attention and why didn't the Gators try to pursue his services? The Florida job isn't as attractive as some think, maybe? The Gators acted in a desperate manner and nabbed Napier. He's a fine coach, but then, so was Mullen when he was hired. Now that Riley's at USC, the media's completely lopped off all the stories about Napier. Poof, gone with the wind.

4 ... Oklahoma's going to have some trouble in the SEC in the days ahead, not to mention Texas. Riley possibly shied away from the SEC and OU's chances of continuing its success were going to be diminished as to why he rejected LSU?

5 ... Fact is: Money talks AND walks. USC's kind of money is hard to resist. Plus, winning in the Pac-12 will be an easier path to the CFP and national title than in the SEC.

In any case, get ready for a revived TROJAN EMPIRE in the years ahead.

Not sure why you're making fun of Florida other than the fact you're a UGA fan as well, but the real loser in all of this is LSU.

USC will not make a single CFP with him

They are on a Nebraska/Miami trajectory

Other than LSU fans, who cares about winning the news cycle when it comes to coaching hires?

People laughed at Arkansas when they hired Pittman. We see how that turned out.

Funny to me how some fans care more about beating their chests online and winning press conferences than games.

You put way too much of your brain power, time and energy into that entire write up. I’d love to know what you do for a living.

7. Riley is scared AF of his snake oil getting exposed in the SEC and bolted for greener pastures.
