I like how the same counting rules are applied to every team. Usually, when AU mouthbreathers start these threads, they only apply the strictest method possible to Alabama. But as you can see, when applied evenly across the board, Alabama still lands at #1, where it belongs.

In 2007 Ohio State should have played Kansas. They were screwed by a flawed system.

I'll just add that NC used to be awarded before games. Also certain schools refused to play in bowl games. So in some years it would have been impossible to have 1 vs 2.
Also you're the only person I've ever heard of that doesn't count BB's titles.

So wouldn't LSU's 2003 title be bogus as well? Was USC not No. 1 in both the AP and Coach's poll before and after the bowl games? I see you qualified by using AP prior to '98 and BCS afterwards, but that 2003 title was still split.

Never understood why some Alabama fans get so defensive over this issue, nor why so many rival fans take such issue with it.
At any rate, I've witnessed 4 in my adult life, and that's way more than most fan of any other school will ever do. That's good enough for me.
