Let me preface this by saying that the BCS, started in 1998, was the best thing that happened to college football.
It opened the door for what will become a playoff system that will severely diminish the importance of the regular season.
It was the regular season (every single game matters) that made college football the greatest sport ever.
The playoff system will bring college football down to the level of pro football, which has a long and boring regular season.

The "arbitrary" system your entire diatribe is based on, is the same "arbitrary" system that chooses the two teams to play for the title.
Furthermore, there are no "legitimate" titles, all of them are merely "claimed" through arbitrary methods. A playoff system doesn't change that, it only waters down the product.

I have now provided an update that includes Legit titles by coach...Dabo moves into 3rd place tie behind Saban and Urban.

What sucks for Alabama fans is that Dabo will likely never want to follow Saban at Alabama. Too much invested in Clemson, why follow a legend, and Bama fans suck!

I do not think Bama gets their 8th title this year...I believe it will be Ohio State's turn...regardless, this season will always have the Covid asterisk...

I think your argument proves more that CFB has not been organized into a real sports league on a national scale for most of its history. It was conferences and then money making bowl games, with some beauty contest polls purporting to crown a champion. If you were trying to cast shade on Bama, I think you failed.
