The Lamont Evans saga is finally over for Frank Martin’s South Carolina basketball program.
On Thursday, the NCAA announced the Gamecocks have been put on two years of probation following an investigation into the violation of NCAA ethical conduct rules regarding South Carolina assistant coach, Lamont Evans.

Damn they better hammer LSU and Arizona.

It says he took bribes to arrange player/agent meetings. Did pay any of the players or their families?

Was this the shite that could have threatened them taking away our Final 4? Or was that something different with PJ Dozier? Or are they linked?
I've got no idea.

no tourney ban
similar to what bama got
Auburn may have jumped the gun on their tourney ban but Pearl knew they weren't going to make it anyway
Oklahoma St should have gotten same penalties as Bama and S Carolina
They are still appealing though
They want Wade bad but the tapes don't prove anything

They don’t need the tapes. According to the last bit of info released to the national media, the NCAA was accusing him of providing payment to up to 11 different players. It’s going to sting.

Damn USC with 5 major infractions in just a little over 15 years...

The NCAA is not a government organization and doesn't have to prove anything in a court of law.
As a result, nobody really has a damn clue what they will do.

We've lost like 10 games in a row. We ain't going to the tourney anyway.

Came to post something similar. They could ban us from the tourney for the next 5 years it wouldn't make a difference. Well the only difference would be recruiting but not like Frank does a good job with that anyway.

quote:Did WW strive to adhere to the rules and regulations of the NCAA when recruiting for LSU? Did he harbor an environment of NCAA compliance with his staff, players and in all communications with prospects and their families? Did he employ the use of street agents during recruiting? Did HC WW knowingly break NCAA rules of recruiting?

They are both one in the same.

Tuscaloosa wants Wade bad.
Watching Tuscaloosa squirm over this has been a solid reason for returning to the SECR weekly.

The NCAA was accusing him of it or a reporter talked to 11 players that say he offered them money to play for LSU?

At some point a coach is going to challenge the NCAA with their "show cause" rule. Even people who have a criminal record are allowed back in their profession after their conviction in due time. Breaking the NCAA rules is not a criminal act.

Wouldn’t surprise me honestly. Non-competes are hard enough to enforce most places even when included in employment contracts. I’d actually love to see a court rule on show causes, especially ones that are this long. Almost seems unreasonable given, like you said, no laws were broken

Ouch, damn. Thats really going to hurt going forward. I mean how is Frank going to keep the boys motivated to win games if we can't go to the NCAA tourney were def not going to make. shite, how's this going to effect our Top 10 recruiting class we're definitely not going to be signing. I hope we have enough scholies.

The 10 year show cause was the biggest part of the deal for me. If coaches get 10 years for being on tape offering money will shake up some big programs.
