**Please delete thread (and accept my apologies) if this has been discussed; until today, I haven’t been on this board much recently.

These are the stories that we’re undoubtedly going to hear regularly (daily?).

Parties.

How can we not? They’re college kids.

In terms of football, has anyone heard whether or not players are being forbidden by their coaches from socializing?

KnoxNews.com
quote:

The University of Tennessee at Knoxville has traced a cluster of active COVID-19 cases to an off-campus party, the university announced Tuesday.

quote:

Students who host parties that do not comply with social distancing and mask guidelines could also face punishment, Plowman said, adding that "we will hold the party host accountable." However, there will not be a punishment for disclosing that you attended a party to a contact tracer, Plowman added.

"We will hold you responsible, and it’s possible that you could be expelled from school and I will not hesitate to do that if our students are irresponsible," Plowman said.

quote:

The university reported 75 active cases of COVID-19 and 270 people in self-isolation on Tuesday. Those numbers more than doubled in the week leading up to the start of the semester. Students began moving onto campus on Aug. 9, and classes begin on Wednesday.

quote:

Tennessee football coach Jeremy Pruitt said there had been 23 positive COVID-19 tests since football players returned to campus in early June, although Pruitt said this week only "a few" players are quarantining and not practicing.

^^On that bit those came from the July break they had. They had zero prior to the break. Seems harsh to punish party hosts though. These are college kids and they are not going to have the most sensible behavior when it comes to partying.

I’m with you.
This quote made me utter a, “dayum” out loud:

Don't be stupid kids. My college football season is counting on you to be responsible.

Yeah, we're probably screwed.

Is this about to be like Footloose where college parties are outlawed until further notice?

If our season relies on college students NOT partying, then we are fricked...

Close down the campus, and let the players stay (at this point it is obvious that is what they would prefer).

That’s why I asked the question about coaches’ policies for players.
Are the teams self-isolating, or are they permitted to socialize with non-team members?
