Texas and Oklahoma are better brands, be real

Both basketball programs would have balanced out football as the dominant sport,
But it's one thing to add one or two AAU universities. Adding two in the same expansion cycle would have been a huge culture clash.

OK and OK St would have been better. Texas belongs in the PAC 12. We do not need their Money.

UNC not going anyhere without Duke they are not giving up that Basketball Rivalry. Just like Alabama and Auburn in football that Basketball Rivalry is the iron bowl of College Basketball. Any talk of UNC going anywhere without Duke in the same breath is just hot air leaving your pie hole with 0 sense made.

Duke without Coach K isnt much of a rival

Two very liberal Universities. Virginia especially. Virginia Tech and NC State fit the SEC better culturally.

SEC next move is to get into those two states with any combo of UNC/NCSU and UVA/VPI

We are only going to move if its uva/unc/duke. That leaves one left and the only major tv brands are clemson, fsu, or miami. Then done forever and we rule the world.

What would you and SEC fans think of jettisoning Missouri and Texas A&M if it meant Virginia and North Carolina could/would be added?
You'd keep the league at a manageable 16 teams.
Missouri has no southern ties or culture whatsoever.
A&M is cancelled out with Texas who's the flagship and has a stronger football brand.
The two newcomers don't have much traction I'd imagine in their 10 years and wouldn't be missed by the original 10 SEC members.
North Carolina and Virginia are the state's flagships, are Public Ivys, and have football programs who aren't powerhouses nor cupcakes would even out the overall difficulty of the league.
Plus both are true Southern institutions comparable to Georgia.

Should add both UNC and UVA now to kill off the ACC;. FSU, Miami, and Clemson would have a hard time recruiting and it would eliminate competition from them. Two conferences down. Reduced competition for $.

One other thing, adding UVA and UNC would mean complete dominance for Kentucky over Louisville, Florida over Florida State, and SCAR over Clemson.

Blow me Farmer Dell. You'll soon learn Tu has little to no influence on SEC matters. Much rather see you jettisoned instead of A&M.

At this point,Clemson and FSU are the only ACC schools the SEC would consider.
It's about big names, brands and CFB ratings and money.
The NCAA controls and distributes March Madness TV rights and it's the reason basketball isn't as important at least in the eyes of the SEC and CFB.

Texas and ESPN is gonna destroy the SEC as we know it when it’s all said and done.

But adding UVA and UNC would diminish both Clemson and FSU (and the ACC competition) while also adding two more state markets for more $.
