Another coronavirus policy reaction. Guess we'll see if it stays at 2 weeks or goes further. Im not a student so makes no difference to me.

UofL and Bellarmine has also announced similar policies.

The issue simply is, these kids travel all over for spring break and that includes out of country. Schools have the online capabilities, like through Blackboard, to have class. Many brick and mortars (UK, UofL included) have online courses.

Universities aren’t going to shut all the way down over going to online courses. Most of the athletic department students do online courses during their seasons anyway.

South Carolina extended spring break a week

No confirmation, but I’m willing to bet it’s to better prepare for online only classes

Probably. UofL’s release was “through at least April 5th”.

The issue here is they’re finding cases tied to here in Louisville through conferences from the end of February. A religious conference at the Omni has netted at least 3 cases in the last 24 hours. Those people are already back home in their respective states.

ETA: The public school superintendents here in Kentucky just got on a teleconference with the Governor as well. Chances are all public schools from secondary down will be closed or moved to online instruction by next week.

No it’s not, it’s necessary. The only thing we can do to combat the spread of a virus that has no cure to people who are immune deficient is to limit exposure by eliminating opportunities for people to congregate. It’s inconvenient but it’s not ridiculous.

We are not going to do what China did (lord knows we wouldn’t comply if the government tried) so the next best thing is this

Schools need to go virtual, get rid of the liberal professors, and tear down the buildings and give the land back to the cities. Save taxpayers millions of dollars.

Other than studio (fine arts mostly) or lab classes I think online is a fine way to go. Shouldn't really have an impact on students. Especially at UK where they gave the students ipads.

Berea College, south of Lexington en route to Knoxville, has canceled classes for the rest of the semester entirely.

Are people really that worried about online classes? I've taken several
I've found the instruction in them is actually better than in person classes, professors have to spell everything out cause students can't just ask them a question after without spamming emails

My current school (grad) still uses Blackboard, UofL is still using it, and we even use it for our district trainings at work.
