Greetings Rant -- Long time lurker, first time poster.

The Vol faithful are back riding this win streak but Saturday will be a disappointment. Here's how I see Saturday playing out:

Matchups -- Advantage UGA
-- UT OL vs UGA DL - Draw. UT maybe more talented, UGA stout and more experienced.
-- UT RB/TE vs UGA LB - Advantage UGA. UT improved but UGA elite.
-- UT QB/WR vs UGA Secondary - Significant advantage UGA.
-- UGA OL vs UT DL - Advantage UGA
-- UGA RB/TE vs UT LB - Slight advantage UGA.
-- UGA QB/WR vs UT secondary - Advantage UGA.
-- Special Teams - Advantage UGA. Scott Cochran has dramatically improved out special team play.

Emotion- Slight Advantage UT
-- Big win for the Dawgs last week vs Barn but since the game was over by the half, I don't look for much of a hangover. I do worry about them looking forward to Bama next week.
-- UT has a lot to prove and they are hungry. Pruitt is building the right culture.

Turnovers -- ???
-- I don't think wet field conditions favor or hurt either team since they are built similarly but does increase the odds of turnovers playing a big factor.
-- In order for UT to win, they will have to be +2 in the turnover category.

Scheme -- Draw
-- They're basically the same. I expect both teams to try to establish the run on offensive and load the box on defense. Whoever converts the most 3rd downs in the passing game likely wins.

UGA is more talented and deeper overall. Close game in the first half w/ dawgs pulling away in the second half.

Result -- 24-13 Dawgs!

BTW, UT is definitely headed the right direction and will likely surpass Florida next year as a top contender in the east.

Good post.
Who is the tennessee starting offensive line this saturday?

Question for Vols fans: how many rushing TDs are they expecting from the running backs this saturday?

I really think UT is strong. I think their only chance however in this game with this matchup is for Stetson to make mistakes. Vols must score touchdowns when given the chance. JG will have to play the best game of his career by far.

Elite football mind Devil03Dawg07 has provided the most in-depth non biased view on Saturday’s game that the board has ever witnessed. Cot damn why he isn’t on the TV screen is just a modern day travesty.

He gave a breakdown based on his opinion. Nobody said you couldn't discuss.....and you could also do your own thread if you felt a need. For a group of fans who live to troll, you are a salty bunch if someone posts their honest opinion.

Is UGA's DL more experienced than UT's OL?

Info taken from University Bio Pages

UGA Starts (will do front 7) from posted depth chart:

Herring - 11
Davis - 10
Wyatt - 3
Ojulari - 15
Dean - 2
Rice - 21
Johnson - 2

Average = 9.14 starts per player

UT OL Starts
Morris - 13
Smith - 32
Kennedy - 14
Carvin - 15
Mays - 18 (0 at UT; 18 at UGA)

Average = 18.4 starts per player

As a VOLS fan I think that's a pretty solid assessment.

What makes you say it's wrong? I'm not saying he's right but I'd like to hear a vol opinion about it.

Interesting. I don't know if UGA's DL is more experienced but I know all of those players have played in every game for the most part but may not have started since we rotate so much. We played the Arkansas game and no defensive player had more than 32 snaps.

I didnt say he was wrong, i just noticed on ones he thought were atleast close he took a second to point out why he thought whichever side had an advantage did and atleast a little bit of reasoning. I feel like it goes without saying that Stetson Bennett is the least proven, whether that be good or bad, player of all the skill positions. Tennessee's secondary, particularly cornerbacks have basically been starting since they were freshmen and the other db's have played significant snaps as well. I guess i was just suprised why it was an easy wash your walk on qb in his 3rd game is so definitively better than our secondary.

While not starting. UGA rotates a lot on defense. So all those guys have played a lot. On the other hand the Tennessee oline is very very good. Could be the best we face this year.

I’d like to see more of Bennett before we crown his arse. Didn’t he throw like 1 pick for every touchdown he threw in JUCO? He’s been very solid at managing the game thus far but VOLS defense should be a much tougher test than what Auburn and Hawgs provided imho

Obviously Pickens is a hoss but Thompson/Taylor is the best duo of corners VOLS have had in quite some time imo. Getting Shamburger back this week at STAR is huge for this secondary. The true freahman Slaughter is who filled in for Shamburger against SCe and Mizzou and that’s who they went after nearly every chance they could

UT can go 8 players in rotation on the OL.

Going into the 2-deep for UT's OL:

Johnson - 13 starts
Locklear - 4 starts (has played in 27 games)
Wright - 6 starts

Fair enough. I want to see more out of him as well. I can't speak to why he threw the ints in JUCO but he's really only thrown 4-5 passes that I thought he forced.

Thankfully, Kearis Jackson has started making plays for us in the slot so getting Shamburger back is big for you guys.

If Bennett can connect on the intermediate passes that should keep UT from focusing on the run which will help us move the ball even more. If they can make us one dimensional then it's going to be a great game. Now, if UGA can take away Palmer and make UT one dimensional it might be a great game for the Dawgs.

I think its a fair question. IMO, it really comes down to Pickens. He's an elite talent that changes the game even when he's not getting the ball. His numbers have been rather pedestrian this year but Arky/Barn sold out to not let him beat them. Not sure what Pruitt will do but below are a couple of thoughts:

1) Option 1) On first and second down, I see UT brining a safety in the box the help on run support. They'll also roll the other safety to Pickens side for help. This is why K. Jackson has 9 catches for 209 so far this year.

2) Option 2) UT plays zone. So far we've been really good at finding our tight ends as they are mismatches for for LBs and Safetys against zone. And we get Mckitty back this week.

3) Option 3) UT plays press man on the outside and G. Pickens has a field day. This is what I believe Pruitt wants to do, just not sure he has the personnel for it at this time. LSU's Stingly might be the only DB in the country that can match w/ Pickens 1 on 1 and it be called a draw, and it will be interesting to see how Bama plays him next week.

With regards to Bennett, the kid is tiny but he has a set of brass balls. I wouldn't want the game to be completely in his hands (4th Quarter comeback) but thus far he has executed near the top of the league for all QBs. I hope the weather doesn't cause him problems.
