After watching UGA vs Arky it seemed like the refs performed better than they did…

Almost every other play for Arky on offense was either a false start, phantom “illegal blocker down field” penalties or drive killing penalties. Arky ended up having 13 penalties, 2 of which I will agree that the false starts were of “UGA fans and arky’s fault.”

Im pretty sure i saw them calling penalties i havent even seen SEC refs call this year vs Arky just to stop their drives. It really looked as if the refs controlled much of the 1st quarter until UGA was able to get up 21-0 to an early lead.

Am I crazy but does it seem like the refs let UGA Defense get away with their “physical” play? I saw plenty of UGA Corners pulling and jamming after 10 yds every play damn near and no calls.

Have they seen a competent Offense yet?

Do they make good offenses incompetent?

While I do see talent everywhere on the roster on this edition of the UGA defense, I feel this defense is no special than some of the Bama Defenses Auburn has beaten and faced in the Nick Saban Era.

It's Wednesday, but this is more like a Sunday night level thread at best.

This UGA defense is much, much better than the 2010 and 2013 Alabama defenses that Auburn beat (and 2014 which they ran up and down the field on), which were 3 of the bottom tier defenses of the Saban era. It's also in all liklihood better than the 2017 Alabama defense, which was a mash unit in the Front 7 at the end of the regular season.

You mean the RPO that was supposed to be a behind the LOS but instead KJ threw it downfield?

Yeah, that’s never a penalty

You think UGA is a good as 2010 based off the 5 games they played so far? I think thats a reach considering the draft picks from that team, but you may be right.

I cant name one person in their secondary right now, but probably could tell you bama’s 2 deep from 2010 today. I feel they can be good but idk if id crown them after the 5 games they played.

I also think Drunk Garcia would beat this Current edition of UGA too.

Our 2010 defense? Absolutely. Our 2010 defense was young and inexperienced, and then we had a bunch of injuries to key guys. We had a bunch of guys who ended up being great players, but they were pups that year. We gave up 421 yards to Arkansas, 433 yards to LSU, 324 yards to Auburn. And this was in a much more defensive friendly era of the SEC.

Should be an easy win for Auburn, then, huh?

Make sure to watch without your hands covering your face on Saturday.

I'm sure you'll see DK or Ringo steal one from Bo Pix.

If not, I'm sure Cine will pop Tank's top clean off if given the chance. Odds aren't high for that considering the DL and backers will be stuffing the runs at the LOS.

Arkansas' offense was averaging 480 ypg before they played UGA. Auburn's offense is currently averaging... 480 ypg.

They held all game, the refs fricked us, crowd was too loud, the refs screwed us on that one play that would have changed everything, Kirby stole our calls, aliens changed the dimension every time we were going to get a big play.

My excuse muscles are limber.

Either Georgia is awesome or the Aggies are the worst football team of all time- that’s my opinion thus far this year.

I mean we got manhandled and maybe it’s false hope but I don’t think we are that bad. That game felt like a mauling during the Chad years.

I swear I said it aloud too during the game- I could still tell our defense was improved from seasons past even given GA just basically cruising on down the field. Speaking of, I know their defense gets all the props but that offense looked badass to me too.

Regarding the penalties- there was an insane amount. I think most were probably deserved. We had ants in our pants evidently and had the jitters which definitely didn’t help the outcome either.

ETA: Or what V said

At least you own up to being ignorant.

We have an all conference corner in derion kendrick.

Former #1 cb recruit in kelee ringo. Hasnt given up a pass completion all season.

Junior safety lewis cine (former #3 safety recruit in the country. Full time returning starter from 2020). 1st in conference for passes defended (6).

Senior Christopher smith (kirby cant coach up 3 star on 247). 2nd in conference with 2 INTs on the year.

Nickel defender is playing like an all conference performer. RsSr latavious brini (kirby cant coach ip 3 star on 247). Outplaying all american on our roster tykee smith.

UGA very well could set the record for total draft picks from one team in next year's draft which is currently 14 by LSU after the 2019 season. There won't be as many first rounders as Bama had last year though. This of course assumes the JRs choose to leave early and the SRs don't choose to use the free COVID year.

Defense:

Jordan Davis
Devonte Wyatt
Travon Walker (JR)
Adam Anderson
Nakobe Dean (JR)
Quay Walker
Channing Tindall
Nolan Smith (JR)
Derion Kendrick
Lewis Cine (JR)
Latavious Brini
Tykee Smith (injured but returning soon)

Offense
Jamaree Salyer
Justin Shaffer
Zamir White
James Cook
JT Daniels

All of the above will certainly get drafted. These are two more that are more borderline IMO:

Chris Smith
Ameer Speed

Edit to add George Pickens too. He may come back later in the year, but would still count in this draft pick scenario.

You can twist it however you need to so you may imagine you have any hope of moving the ball on this defense

10 drives, 7 3 and outs, 8 punts. Against an offense that was better than Auburn's entering week 5.

By seeing if a lineman is downfield or not. That’s literally the reason this rule exists

If linemen are downfield, the defense thinks run or behind the LOS play. If you pass off of that, it’s a severe disadvantage to the defense. You can see the center end up 6 yards downfield. Therefore, it’s a penalty.
