I think the one weekend we are focused on keeping is the Florida weekend due to the NFL dynamic and the plans that people have had,” McGarity said, referring to Bulldogs' traditional late-October, early-November rivalry with the Gators in Jacksonville, Fla. “As we’ll see later, there’ll be movement probably to other games. Who thought we’d be opening the (2019) season with Vanderbilt? The main thing is a rivalry will stay in place. We’ll continue to play Auburn on an annual basis for the near future.”

VOLS typically play Bama, Georgia, Florida, and a marquee OOC opponent within a 6 week period, and you never hear us bitch about it.

Poor Auburn

I want us to change the Florida thing ..

But mainly because I'm sick of the matchup. This hurricane thing was dumb.

Especially when there are so many East venues we NEVER see.

What exactly is the news here? The headline and lead are confusing; disjointed.

You know playing an insane schedule might just have something to do with it. We wouldn't have been great but we'd have 2-3 more wins a year if our schedule was shifted around and you wouldn't be telling us how awful we were.

SEC schedule is fcking dumb.

Tennessee, Florida, and Georgia and another team should all be playing each other the last few weeks of the season as should LSU, Bama, Auburn (thrown tamu in there as well). There is zero head to head intrigue the last 3 weeks of the season other than bama and auburn every few years. These fcs games and late season out of conference rivalry games need to go to. Play these early in the season.

Pretty soon they'll be crying again about wanting to move to the East.

Try West Virginia, Virgina Tech, Oklahoma, Oregon.

Yes, our cupcakes have been the cupcakiest this season but a cupcake is a cupcake is a cupcake. Yours aren't any better and you still lost to us.

We’re saving that for the off-season after they come up with a plan to adjust our schedule. God bless those Birmingham offices.

I like playing Florida, but c’mon...wouldn’t you like to play other teams more frequently? Auburn? Bama? aTm? We don’t play in Athens until 2025 or some shite. I love Athens, I can’t say the same about Gainesville, win or lose...

Not all of these were in a 6 game stretch. But our biggest gripe is the fact that it’s to end the season. The way it is right now, Auburn would have to end the season playing 5 playoff level teams (with a cupcake thrown in).

The fact of the matter though, is that it’s our AD’s job to put us in the best position to succeed. Can’t blame a man for doing his job.

S&P had us with the 5th toughest schedule last week. Auburn's was at 29. Cry me a river.

Georgia's schedule is weird next year and it sounds like there will be more weirdness to come.

Here's how it's supposed to go:

OOC team
South Carolina
OOC team
Mizzou ------|
Tennessee -| ---- in no particular order
Vanderbilt --|
Cross-Divisional game
Florida
OOC game -|
Kentucky ----| ---- in no particular order
Auburn -------|
Tech

That's approximately how it's been pretty much my entire football-watching life (or at least since the re-alignment in 2012).

Last year was weird with Carolina coming late in the year. Next year, we've got the A&M game AFTER Auburn for some stupid reason and we open with Vandy.

Who the frick is messing with this? The only thing about Georgia's schedule that needs tweaking is to stagger the Auburn game so that we get at least one home game out of the group of Tennessee, Auburn and Tech each year.

No doubt vols had a strong schedule on the front half of the season. You just typically end it with weak teams. UK is good this year so that will help.

That's really not our choice though. We've been asking the Florida game to be moved several weeks down the line for freaking decades.

So you’ve been trying to do the very thing we are asking to do? Maybe the vols AD and Greene can collaborate and make something happen.
