I agree. 7-8 regular season wins. You cannot rebuild depth on both lines over night. Takes time to get the quality depth you need in the SEC.

This is the biggest problem I have with UF fans. They are always fascinated by "bright, shiny things" (fixated on the next Percy Harvin). UF damn sure better be worried about getting the next set of Pouncey brothers up front or it won't matter how many sub-4.4 guys you have on the outside.

I agree.

UF did recruit some REALLY good OL last year. Humphries and Dunker. Muschamp is rebuilding on both lines of scrimmage. He knows where UF needs depth, and there's a lot of needs on this team.

Florida is going to be potent on both sides this year! Look out, Lattimore & Co.!

I think 8-9 wins regular season.

The defense was good last year and it was young and had no depth. As long as they are a bit tougher against the run, UF will be in every game next year because of defense, as long as the offense isn't a steaming pile

I was thrilled with the Humphries addition for our OL, no doubt. Really hoping he can make something happen this year.

I can't disagree that the front lines on both sides of the ball are very crucial. Should be fun to see how things develop, though.

Think about how bad Florida was last year... still finished 7-6 and most of the losses were close. This year Florida will be better on offense and defense and won't have to face bama. Even if the offense is only marginally better, Florida's record should improve over last year. 9-10 wins isn't out of the question. Will compete for the sec east crown.

You're assuming everyone else on the schedule remains static, though. Just because UF improves (and where it counts - up front - I think UF is a year away from showing any real improvement)doesn't mean that the other teams don't improve more.

SCar - a full year away from the Garcia headaches at QB and a healthy Lattimore

UT - Offense could be scary good. D still suspect. But this is one of those teams if they catch lightning in a bottle can run the table on you in a single game

UGa - another good recruiting class by Richt and another full year into the 3-4 defense

FSU - Jimbo is piling up talent. And they aren't afraid of the Gators anymore in the post-Timmy world

Except for Foley's embarassing OOC scheduling, there are few guarantees on this schedule. 8 wins might be optimistic.

Who is fixated on the next Percy? Heck, we don't have anyone that would qualify.

Tideroller is always down on the Gators FWIW. He rarely misses a UF thread.

We have plenty of reasons to be guardedly excited. Pease alone makes me look forward to next year.

I don't think anyone is predicting that Florida will win the SEC east or anything, but there are reasons to be optimistic about next season compared to last year:

1. No more John Brantley
2. The depth is way better especially on defense
3. All the reports indicate that the team has the best chemistry its had in more than 2 years.
4. Pease put together a much better spring game than Weis did last year.
5. Muschamp has a year more experience
6. The OL and DL have both had strong springs.

So while yes, SC, UGA, and FSU all remain strong, and while other SEC teams will also be good, Florida looks to be in a good position to win any game they play except for maybe LSU.
