UF fans: How strict will the UF Police be during your Super Bowl on October 7?

We are thinking about making the trip, but have always heard horror stories about how shitty the University of Florida cops can be.
Is this still the case?
What are some tips as far as avoiding getting harassed while drinking and partying on campus?
Are there specific zones throughout campus where you can't drink?
Anyone else care to share some tips for tailgating at Florida?

The campus cops aren't that bad as long as you don't show your arse, keep your drinking discrete, don't yell Tiger bait in people's ears. Just don't act like an arse and you will be OK.
The whole campus is open for tail-gating. There will be nothing special going on, just another game.
Enjoy your trip to Gatorville.

Only towards LSU fans. They're cool with everyone else.

Keep your drinking discreet? I didn't realize the game was being played in Saudi Arabia

First of all, y'all are not UF's superbowl. That is FSU then Bama.
With that out of the way:
GPD and UF cops will go after opposing fans when they are blackout drunk or drinking with an open container. That will always be the case.
Drink out of a solo cup or non clear container. They will leave you alone.
If you can not get on campus to set up tailgating early, there is a ton of parking at houses north of the stadium.
University avenue is closed to vehicles 3 hours before the game and 2 hours after.

Basically they'll leave you alone..unless you're an opposing fan and they feel like being douchebags. Man sounds like a great place to tailgate!

No, but it is playing in a city with a law against open containers of alcohol. Criticize it or not, just keep it on the low down to stay out of trouble, or show your arse and spend the weekend at the county lockup. Your choice.

Do you want to win a NC? Gotta beat Bama to do so.

They are super lenient, just do whatever you want and you will be fine.
Posted on 6/12/17 at 9:33 am to CBandits82
Just follow this basic rule - don't be an a-hole. If you manage that, no one will bother you and you can drink and talk some trash and have a good time.
Super bowl....
LSU fans still salty I see.

Pretty sure it was either UFPD or GPD that hit Joakim Noah up with an open container charge post-Championships.
If the man that won them two NCs isn't safe, neither are you.

The one and only time I went to Gainesville, we had cops come up to our tailgate three times.
Everyone was drinking out of solo cups, our music wasn't loud at all, and we weren't harassing opposing fans in the slightest as they walked by.
They ID'ed everyone looking for underage drinking, made us shut down our beer pong table, and had us turn the music completely off.
Glad I went to say that I have been there (would like to visit every SEC stadium once), but I have zero intention of going back. Overall miserable experience.

Sure bring out a keg and DJ and party down.

And a beer pong table wasn't drawing any attention that there may be drinking going on?

And I call BS on that, just isn't the LSU way.
The rest of your statement is not the usual, must have been something else going on at your gathering.

Nah, I'm good. Just gonna wait for Saban to retire before an other SEC team can win a title.
But seriously, Bama is a spectacle, but not a rival. They draw a big crowd because they are winning now. A Super Bowl would be if the Noles or Vols were ranked 1/2 opposite the Gators.

You're right, that was our fault for not realizing we were playing a football game in the Middle East and not the SEC.

Call BS all you want, but we just aren't those fans. We'd sooner invite opposing fans in for a beer. But of course if we did that at UF, it'd probably be an undercover cop and we'd get in trouble for being cordial.

Communities enforce their laws based on local religious and moral beliefs. If Baton Rouge wants to let everyone openly drink and raise hell that's fine, Gainesville is a lot more conservative as a community although the police do turn their heads and try not to be too strict, but if you do something in their face, they will take action to enforce the law. If you don't like, please don't come back. It creates a bad perception of the community when you are confronted for violating the law although I notice that you didn't indicate anyone was arrested.

Sad that that's the standard for tailgating at UF.

We have a special place on campus for LSU fans to tailgate right next to Lake Alice. Bring your swim trunks because it can be hot.
